Job Description
The Laundry Operations Manager plays a vital role in creating an engaging work environment at Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge. Reporting to the Director of Housekeeping, you will oversee laundry operations, leading a team of 20-30 colleagues serving a 446-room resort, including spa, recreational facilities, golf course, multiple F&B outlets, and external contracts. Your leadership will inspire our team and ensure memorable experiences for our guests and staff.
Salary Range: $62,000 - $68,000 per annum
Your Job Responsibilities:
- Manage daily laundry department operations, ensuring quality and standards meet guest and colleague expectations.
- Maintain the highest cleanliness standards according to Fairmont standards, policies, and procedures.
- Manage payroll and departmental expenses within budgeted guidelines.
- Lead employee relations, conduct communication meetings, and manage performance standards.
- Promote team motivation, engagement, and well-being.
- Ensure health, wellness, and safety for both colleagues and guests.
- Foster teamwork and maintain strong interdepartmental relationships.
- Oversee talent acquisition, recruitment, interviews, hiring, and promotions within the laundry department.
- Train, coach, and develop staff to deliver high-quality service.
- Collaborate with Engineering for maintenance and repairs of laundry equipment.
- Ensure prompt and courteous guest laundry service, adhering to standards.
- Manage relationships with laundry contracts in Jasper.
- Monitor and prepare the laundry operating budget, including revenue, labor, and supplies.
- Conduct linen inventories and manage inventory levels.
- Develop and implement capital projects for laundry facilities.
- Follow vehicle handling and safety policies when operating hotel vehicles.
- Participate in hotel committees and environmental initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience:
- 3-5 years of leadership experience, preferably in Laundry or Housekeeping.
- Knowledge of laundry equipment and cleaning products is an asset.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, diverse environment.
- Knowledge of Property Manager System / Opera and other systems is an asset.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Visa Requirements: Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel cannot assist with work authorization.
