Qualifications

Job description
BWH Required Skills:

The successful applicant will work in compliance with all relevant legislation, hospital policies, and procedures. They will practice according to Bluewater Health Standards of Performance Excellence and fulfill their role within the Attendance Support Program parameters. The candidate should possess effective communication and interpersonal skills, be able to work independently and as part of a team, and have strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Each member of Bluewater Health is committed to patient and family-centered care. This includes communicating care and respect, providing understandable information, listening to patients and families, and seeking their perspectives during their stay and improvement initiatives.

Nursing Statement:

Nursing is a self-regulated profession governed by the College of Nurses of Ontario. Nurses are responsible for practicing according to professional standards and maintaining competence throughout their careers.

Qualifications:
  • Current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Advanced education in Perinatal care (Obstetrical triage, labour & delivery, intrapartum, postpartum)
  • Preferred: Advanced education in Pediatric care, Level II Nursery, and certifications such as Fundamentals of Fetal Health Surveillance, PALS, PEARS
  • Current NRP certification with relevant experience
  • Preferred: Advanced Nursing skills for Perinatal/Neonatal/Pediatrics care and completion of the Baby Friendly Breastfeeding course
  • Required: Maternal Newborn course (to be completed within 1 year of hire)
Principal Duties:
  • Train in all areas of the Maternal Infant Child Program (Labour & Delivery, Nursery, Pediatrics)
  • Care for women, children, and families according to policies, best practices, and family-centered principles
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives
  • Complete continuing education requirements
  • Serve as a coach, mentor, resource, and role model for staff and students
  • Perform other duties as assigned
