Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust (CHFT) is seeking to appoint a Specialty Doctor in Dermatology to support the dermatology services, providing clinical care of inpatient and outpatient patients under consultant supervision. The post has strong links with Leeds, attendance at the weekly MDT, and potential opportunities for training placements in the tertiary treatment centre. The successful applicant will work within CHFT delivering clinical services to the population of Calderdale and Huddersfield.

The Dermatology service currently handles over 5000 two-week wait outpatient attendances per annum for diagnosis and treatment of potential skin cancer. Outpatient clinics operate from both sites with inpatient inreach across Huddersfield Royal Infirmary and Calderdale Royal Hospital.

• Support Consultants in the outpatient department, seeing new patients, patients on follow up and the delivery of minor operation procedures, all under consultant supervision. As the post holder develops, review of opportunities for independent working will be undertaken.
• To see patients presenting acutely in Huddersfield and Calderdale with complications of disease or of treatment.

The post holder will be expected to take significant responsibility for supervision and management of inpatient referrals, under consultant supervision.

The appointee will be expected to undertake all medical duties, including assessing ill patients, managing medical problems and liaising with relatives and other medical departments.

Your duties will include continuing clinical responsibility to the named consultants to whom you are responsible, and the duties they delegate to you shall be such as are consistent with your seniority and specialisation as a practitioner in this grade.

This is a full-time post providing 10 Programmed Activities (PAs). Applicants wishing to work part-time are encouraged to apply and job plans will be adjusted accordingly by negotiation with appointees.

• MRCP or equivalent
• Applicants must have Full Registration with the General Medical Council and hold a Licence to Practise

• Must have 4 years post-graduate experience including 2 years within the Dermatology Specialty
• Must be able to demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and competence in all aspects of the Dermatology specialty
• Understanding current issues within Dermatology and the future direction of the specialty
• Understanding current issues within the wider NHS
• Attendance at a recognised management course
• Shows ability to work with and lead others across professions

• Experience of and enthusiasm for clinical teaching of postgraduate doctors and non-medical staff
• Academic achievements/evidence of familiarity with research methods which have resulted in publications
• Training in clinical and educational supervision
• Attendance at a teaching course
• Formal qualification in teaching/education

• Knowledge of Audit principles and evidence of participation in and completion of audit projects
• Critical Appraisal Skills
• Evidence of knowledge of research methodology
• Good communication and empathy skills with patients
• Evidence of willingness to participate in a multi-disciplinary team environment to provide an integrated service
• Ability to work as a member of a team, both through communication and sharing workload
