A healthcare provider in Ontario is seeking a Registered Nurse (Charge) to lead and support nursing practices in the Mental Health and Addiction Program. The successful candidate will provide patient-centered care, demonstrate advanced knowledge in mental health nursing, and exhibit strong leadership skills. Responsibilities include coordinating care, guiding interdisciplinary teams, and ensuring compliance with nursing standards. This position requires a commitment to continuous quality improvement and professional development, making it an excellent opportunity for experienced nursing professionals.
The Registered Nurse (Charge) provides care and leadership in accordance with the mission, vision and values of SJHH and the Mental Health and Addiction Program (MHAP), the standards of practice of the College of Nurses of Ontario, and the Canadian Federation of Mental Health Nursing (CFMHN) Standards. Nurses in the MHAP are committed to the alleviation of stigma and discrimination related to mental health and addiction, as well as reduction of the use of seclusion and restraint in all our services. The principles of person‑centred nursing, recovery and trauma informed care is foundational to this specialized nursing practice. The RN (Charge) models professional leadership and provides decision‑making support by collaborating and delegating within the inter‑professional team. Duties include, but are not limited to: effectively applying all aspects of the nursing process and supporting best practices and evidence informed care within a collaborative interdisciplinary setting; effectively coordinating day‑to‑day activities, delegating responsibility as required, and facilitating the delivery of quality patient‑centred care; assessing and coordinating clinical and support services to optimise hospital resources; communicating with all members of the interdisciplinary team in a professional and effective manner; providing constructive feedback to staff members when appropriate; and, working collaboratively with the Nurse Manager to effectively manage resources within a fiscally responsible environment.
