A leading HVAC-R distributor in Canada is seeking a Learning & Development Manager to lead the strategic design and delivery of an enterprise learning framework. The successful candidate will have a Master's degree and 8–10 years of experience in L&D, focusing on building competencies and development pathways. The Learning & Development (L&D) Manager is the architect of the organization’s enterprise learning framework, ensuring it equips employees with the skills, knowledge, and career pathways needed for long-term success. Reporting to the Director of Talent Management, this role leads the design and delivery of a strategic learning agenda that aligns with business priorities.
The L&D Manager partners with senior leaders across the business to identify critical skills for the future, implements enterprise-wide competency and career frameworks, and fosters a culture of continuous learning. Leveraging leading-edge learning technologies and analytics, the incumbent ensures all programs deliver measurable impact on employee performance and organizational success.
Strategic Leadership
Develops L&D strategic roadmap aligned with business objectives and organizational capability needs
Partners with senior business leaders to identify critical skill gaps and emerging capability requirements
Manages annual L&D budget and develops business cases for learning investments including ROI projections and success indicators
Maintains deep understanding of business operations, industry trends, and competitive landscape
Operational Excellence
Design, implement, and continuously refine the organization’s enterprise learning framework to ensure alignment with business needs and career development pathways.
Lead the creation of a competency-based career framework with progression pathways across functions and levels.
Partners directly with business unit leaders to understand strategic priorities, capability gaps, and learning needs
Conducts comprehensive needs assessments including stakeholder interviews, focus groups, and data analysis
Ensures compliance with employment laws and global learning standards
Team Leadership
Lead and develop a team of L&D professionals with diverse specializations
Define career paths, succession plans and development opportunities for the team
Fosters a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Manages performance and compensation decisions for direct reports
Education & Experience
• Master’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Psychology, Business Administration, Education, or a related field.
• 8–10 years of progressive experience in Learning & Development, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership or management role.
• Proven experience designing and implementing enterprise-wide learning frameworks, competency models, and career development pathways.
• Demonstrated success in building an L&D function from the ground up or leading major transformation initiatives.
• Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets.
• Exceptional stakeholder management skills and executive presence.

Required Qualifications
• Expertise in learning design methodologies (e.g., ADDIE, SAM, Design Thinking) and adult learning principles.
• Proficiency with learning technology platforms and talent management systems (e.g., SAP SuccessFactors Learning).
• Experience integrating learning technologies with enterprise systems and leveraging analytics to measure ROI and impact.
• Portfolio demonstrating innovative, high-impact learning solution design.
• Knowledge of Canadian employment legislation, human rights, and accessibility standards (e.g., AODA) as they relate to learning.
• Bilingualism (French / English) - Need to interact on a regular basis with our internal Master Group collaborators across the country. After evaluation, it has been determined that no other solution can meet these professional obligations.
