A Canadian university is seeking an Open Learning Faculty Member for the BIOL 1213 course. The role involves supporting students in biology and ecology through online education. Candidates should hold a PhD in Biology and have a strong background in teaching and distance learning. Responsibilities include initiating student contact, managing assignments, and utilizing current educational technologies. The role promotes a collaborative online environment and requires effective communication skills. This is an inclusive position with priority for Canadians and permanent residents.
Open Learning Faculty Members are teaching staff in the Open Learning division of TRU. The role is to actively encourage, support and guide students toward success in their academic studies. Faculty members must be skilled in teaching, fully knowledgeable of the subject matter and demonstrate a positive, open and caring attitude toward all students.
This course is designed for biology or science majors, offering a survey of the kingdoms of life, emphasizing their ecology and evolutionary relationships. BIOL 1215 is the laboratory component.
We anticipate 40-50 students in this course per year. These numbers are estimates and actual numbers may vary.
The pay for Open Learning Faculty Members varies based on several factors including the number of students in the course, the type of work, the type of course and the number of assessments completed by students in the course. The total pay includes amounts based on hourly rates as well as set dollar amounts for certain types of work.
