Position Overview:
In this role you will be responsible for proactively maintaining pipeline integrity operation activities and risk assessment inputs. The role includes developing and implementing comprehensive inspection and maintenance plans for pipelines and above-ground piping in alignment with corporate SLMS/PLIMP Framework requirements. Also, to support the training of field production staff on integrity processes and ensures meticulous implementation and recordkeeping to maintain high standards of safety and compliance.
Key Job Accountabilities:
Provide guidance and support to Facilities Engineers, Production Engineers, and construction teams to ensure the requirements of the SLMS Framework, CSA Z662 Standard, regulations, and acts are met, including pipeline Engineering Assessment, Reactivation, and Decommissioning.
Ensure that risk assessments are conducted and reviewed periodically on pipeline systems in accordance with corporate standards and PLIMP guidelines.
Provide technical support to the Production team regarding the development, implementation, and management of pipeline and surface piping corrosion mitigation and sand management programs.
Participate in pipeline design reviews, including optimization projects and MOCs.
Assist with the investigation of pipeline failures, determine the Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and support the implementation of recommendations to prevent recurrence.
Liaise with regulators for all pipeline audits in the area of responsibility.
Conduct Annual Integrity Planning, Field Reviews, and evaluations of critical valves and leak detection protocols, and participate in response drills.
Compile pipeline integrity performance information according to Z662, Annex N requirements and support the integration of this information into the Key Performance Indicator (KPI) process.
Initiate and participate in periodic internal PLIMP compliance reviews and/or audit activities, ensuring corrective actions are implemented in the Enterprise Asset Management database.
Ensure that PLIMP-related documentation and record-keeping are completed in accordance with the SLMS Framework and CSA Z662 requirements.
Support health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements through day-to-day activities that demonstrate adherence to Veren’s policies and work standards.
Conduct field visits to develop relationships with our field production teams, oversee pipeline repairs, and implement MOCs.
Attend ongoing training to further personal development.
Work with the Chief Inspector on any integrity-related matters regarding pressure equipment.
Primary Qualifications and Skills:
Have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering in a related field (mechanical, chemical, or metallurgical is preferred).
Being a registered Professional Engineer or EIT with APEGA is preferred.
Minimum of 5 years' pipeline integrity experience.
Have relevant experience in pipeline integrity, risk assessment, and integrity inspection technologies.
Knowledge of pipeline regulations and asset management, with in-depth experience in Z662 and fitness-for-service assessments.
Experience with qualitative and quantitative risk assessment methods.
Experience with In-Line Inspection or other Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) is an asset.
Understanding of the Safety Codes Act and ABSA regulations is an asset.
Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
Effective communication and technical writing skills to articulate results and recommendations.
Knowledge and familiarity with upstream field operations are an asset
