Hitachi Rail is seeking an enthusiastic, experienced, and self-motivated Sr. Construction Manager who thrives in a fast-paced environment to oversee a prestigious metro and light rail projects. The position is based in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the construction team in planning, coordinating, and executing all project phases, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team, contractors, and other stakeholders to develop and implement project plans and strategies.
  • Monitor construction progress, identify risks or delays, and implement proactive measures to mitigate them.
  • Manage project resources, including labor, materials, and equipment, to optimize productivity and minimize costs.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, codes, and safety standards throughout the construction process.
  • Oversee the deployment phase of the project, ensuring efficient and timely implementation.
  • Review overall planning of project activities to identify critical milestones and priorities.
  • Communicate regularly with project stakeholders to provide updates, address concerns, and solicit feedback.
  • Ensure the project is performed to standard safety and quality assurance requirements.
  • Follow the progress of all construction activities to ensure Hitachi and subcontractor quality standards, in collaboration with the quality manager.
  • Coordinate with the Commissioning Manager for handover of the installed system and subsequent test, commissioning, and start-up activities.
Required Skills / Knowledge
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction management, with a proven track record of delivering large-scale infrastructure projects, preferably in rail or transportation.
  • Strong technical knowledge of construction methodologies, techniques, and best practices.
  • Experience managing projects involving signalling, telecom, and power supply systems is highly desirable.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools.
  • Professional certifications such as PMP or CCM are a plus.
Education

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Relevant knowledge to ensure that the company produces high-quality installation and documents that meet customer expectations.
