The Digital Farming Solutions (DFS) division of Bayer has a mission to transform agriculture and drive a more sustainable food system by helping the world’s farmers sustainably increase their productivity and crop yield with digital tools. We collect, process, and analyze vast amounts of agronomic data using our Fieldview Platform and suite of applications and connected devices to help our growers realize the full potential of their farmable land. We are looking for a dedicated web architect to help design and build our next generation of web applications.

Digital Farming Solutions at Bayer is seeking a Principal Web Engineer to join our Enterprise Architecture team. As a senior technical leader in our Fieldview engineering organization, you will guide the architecture and design of the Climate FieldView Platform. You will be accountable for the design, technical stewardship of existing and next-generation web applications and related integrations. You will drive the web architecture that facilitates the multiple experiences needed by growers, dealers and internal customers to enable our vision. This position offers the chance to work with widely used farming software tools and contribute to increasing agricultural productivity sustainably. • Enjoy collaborating with other architects to create a vision where all the pieces of the software ecosystem fit together and provide value to Bayer and our customers
• Can design and architect well factored, extensible and performant web applications considering the broader architecture of the software ecosystem
• Passionate about users experience and building engaging, performant and secure user interfaces
• Build systems that are fault tolerant and resilient, can recover from events with no loss of data, and satisfy service-level objectives with ease
• Work in an open and inclusive way, empowering team members to own their portion of the design while still driving excellence
• Enjoys sharing knowledge, mentoring junior team members, and contributing to the overall skill development and quality improvement of the entire team
• Can produce well-written, understandable, and technically correct system specifications
• Are extremely proficient with modern web programming tools, techniques and languages
• Can read, modify, and constructively review other People’s Code
• Handle ambiguity with grace and excitement
• Driving the overall front end architecture for FieldView Web and DFS more generally, globally.
• Be on the DFS Enterprise Architecture team and collaborating with other Global Principal Engineers.
• Collaborating with Product, UI/UX and Web engineers.

• Robust software development experience
• Experience designing, architecting and deploying large scale web applications
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Experience building web applications with modern JavaScript based web programming tools and techniques (React, Vue, Angular...). We use React
• Experience with JavaScript
• Experience with TypeScript
• Experience with modern CSS
• Experience with git or other distributed version control systems
• Experience setting up full CI/CD pipelines for web applications
• Experience building and debugging apps on modern browsers (Chrome, Safari, and mobile browsers)
• Experience with server-side JavaScript (Node.js) and GraphQL
• Experience with testing frameworks and tools like Cypress, Jest
• Interest in working with a team that values testing
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent experience;
• Fluency in Portuguese and English is required for working in a global team;
• Willingness to be based in São Paulo, with some weekly office days expected.

• Experience performance tuning JavaScript/browser applications
• Experience designing single-page application
• Experience working with Product and Design to ship ground-breaking features
• Experience collaborating with a cross-skill architecture team do design and architect
• Champion of web standards, accessibility, and modern web development industry standards
• Experience with testing frameworks and tools like Cypress, Jest
• Experience with React Native
• Experience with micro frontends for web applications
• Interest in being a technical leader who has influence well beyond the web application, collaboratively driving the architectural vision of DFS
