Job Purpose
Lead agile transformation and manage a team of Scrum Masters and Project Managers. Combines people leadership, agile coaching, and strategic oversight to drive continuous improvement in project and software delivery practices. Champions agile principles while ensuring successful project delivery across multiple teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead enterprise-level complex projects using agile methodologies and governance frameworks to deliver exceptional business value
- Define project management processes and champion continuous improvement initiatives that favor incremental delivery, collaboration, and iterative work
- Partner with product owners to manage stakeholder communications, set delivery expectations, and implement effective governance and communication strategies
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Scrum Masters and Project Managers through coaching, feedback, and career development support
- Recruit, onboard, and retain top agile talent while conducting performance evaluations and creating individual development plans
- Foster a collaborative team culture that encourages knowledge sharing, continuous learning, innovation, and effective resource allocation across initiatives
- Build team capability for autonomous problem-solving, assess team health, remove organizational impediments, and create a safe environment for experimentation
- Serve as an Agile Coach to teams, leaders, and stakeholders, promoting agile values, principles, and best practices throughout the organization
- Guide teams in adopting and refining agile frameworks such as Scrum, Kanban, and SAFe, tailored to their specific contexts and needs
- Facilitate agile ceremonies, workshops, and training sessions to elevate organizational agile maturity and capability
- Establish and maintain agile governance frameworks, standards, and metrics across the project portfolio
- Oversee multiple concurrent projects and programs, monitoring health, identifying risks and dependencies, and ensuring timely, high-quality delivery
- Review and approve project plans, sprint goals, and delivery commitments while ensuring teams follow agile best practices with appropriate flexibility
- Continuously evaluate and refine agile processes, tools, and practices while introducing innovative techniques that enhance team productivity and collaboration
- Lead retrospectives and improvement initiatives, stay current with industry trends, and build communities of practice for knowledge sharing and continuous learning
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or related field (Master's degree preferred)
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or Professional Scrum Master (PSM) required
- Advanced agile certifications highly preferred
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent is a plus
Experience
- 7+ years of experience in agile environments with progressive leadership responsibility
- 3+ years of direct people management experience leading Scrum Masters, Project Managers, or agile teams
- Proven track record of successful agile transformations and scaling agile across organizations
- Budget and schedule management experience
Knowledge and skills
- Deep understanding of agile frameworks including Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, LeSS, and hybrid approaches
- Strong knowledge of tools such as MS Project, Jira, Azure DevOps, Confluence, or similar platforms
- Experience with agile metrics and reporting (velocity, burn-down/up charts, cycle time, lead time, etc.)
- Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and DevOps practices.
- Familiarity with agile scaling frameworks for enterprise environments
