Job Description:

Senior Wet Utilities Design Engineer

UAE, Dubai

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Senior Wet Utilities Design Engineer to join our team! In this role, you will determine methods and solutions for complex engineering problems and select the most efficient and economical manner in meeting the objectives. The successful candidate applies advanced engineering techniques and analyses within a discipline and may serve as a technical consultant in your area of specialty for management or the client. Some assignments may involve CAE (computer aided engineering), CAD (computer aided design), GIS (Geographic Information System) applications. Willingness to travel or relocate to supplier, client, or construction site locations is expected.

What You'll Be Doing:

1. Plan, direct, and supervise the work of a major engineering unit or project requiring a large-scale expenditure of manpower and financial investment.
2. Lead other engineers and design personnel in technical excellence and growth in the Quality Improvement Process.
3. Provide technical consultations for interdisciplinary analytical studies and analyses.
4. Provide input to CAD Designers/Drafters working on the same project. Carry out CAD-related tasks using special 3D software and model creation.
5. Ensure compliance of design with all applicable codes and regulations, providing the seal and signature of the professional engineer when required by statute or contract.
6. Prepare material/equipment specifications and purchase requisitions; review supplier data; witness shop tests; assist with assessing supplier manufacturing capabilities.
7. Develop operation and maintenance plans; develop standard operating procedures; prepare O&M manuals; conduct onsite training of personnel.
8. Conduct surveys, studies, and site investigations. Perform reliability, availability, maintenance (RAM), and safety analyses.
9. Maintain affiliation with professional societies to stay abreast of current technologies.
10. Carry out designs of collection, conveyance, and disposal of pressure networks independently. Have advanced experience with hydraulic models for pressure networks, design reports, and software like Bentley WaterCAD, WaterGems, Bentley Hammer, and WANDA. Knowledge of Civil 3D, Dynamo, Python, Open Roads, Open Utilities, GIS is preferred.
11. Be familiar with load demand calculations for large private developments and/or large government projects. Be conversant with Water/Irrigation/Firefighting Authority regulations such as DEWA, ADDC/ADWEA, DM, ADM, DCD, ADCD within the Gulf region.
12. Work knowledge of planning, designing, and constructing water supply systems, including water treatment, pumping systems, and intake structures.
13. Have basic experience in creating utility cross sections as per local authority requirements (e.g., RTA Dubai, DMT Abu Dhabi, MOMRA KSA).
14. Prepare technical specifications and design reports. Be familiar with British, American, DEWA, and DM regulations for wastewater system design.
15. Liaise with service providers to obtain NOCs and Design Approvals.
16. Assist in determining budget estimates and staffing requirements for the scope and schedule. Support other administrative and technical duties.
17. Recommends and prepares technical papers.
18. Perform other responsibilities as appropriate.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field with 8-12 years of related experience in water/wastewater/wet utilities projects.
• Master's degree preferred.
• Potential to lead, with excellent communication skills and knowledge of industry practices and regulations.
• Thorough knowledge of current technology and ability to select appropriate engineering software.
• UAE experience is preferred.

What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

• Advanced engineering knowledge in urban water supply and irrigation systems. Familiarity with CAD (Civil 3D), Dynamo, Python, Open Roads, Open Utilities, GIS is preferred.
• Regional/international water systems design experience. Strong interpersonal, communication, and report writing skills.
• Experience in training and mentoring in pressure system design and management.
