Key Accountabilities of the role
RESPONSIBILITIES
- 1. Translation and Content Delivery
- Translate documents seamlessly between Arabic and English ensuring accuracy, cultural relevance and consistency.
- Maintain high-quality standards across all translated materials reflecting the bank's professional image.
- Provide timely delivery of translations to meet business deadlines and priorities.
- 2. Document Quality Assurance
- Conduct thorough proofreading of translated and original documents to ensure they are free of errors, inconsistencies and omissions.
- Merge and standardize documents from different sources, maintaining a consistent format, structure and tone.
- Regularly review and update document templates to ensure alignment with the bank's evolving policies and standards.
- 3. Risk Control and Governance
- Ensure all translated materials adhere to regulatory compliance and governance requirements specific to Islamic banking.
- Identify and mitigate risks related to language misinterpretation, omissions or inaccuracies in documents.
- Implement and uphold quality control measures to maintain the integrity of all internal and external communications.
- 4. External Translation Review
- Evaluate the quality of translations delivered by external service providers to ensure alignment with the bank's standards.
- Provide constructive feedback to improve external translation quality and manage associated risks.
- Maintain an approved vendor list for translation services and evaluate their performance regularly.
- 5. Relationship Management
- Collaborate with internal departments to understand translation requirements and ensure alignment with their objectives.
- Serve as the key point of contact for translation and document quality issues across the organization.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with external translation agencies and freelance translators to ensure high-quality service delivery.
- 6. Acumen and Delivery
- Stay updated on Islamic banking terminology and industry trends to deliver precise and contextually accurate translations.
- Ensure that all translated and reviewed materials reflect a strong understanding of the bank's operational, financial and cultural nuances.
- Drive continuous improvement in the translation process to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Specialist Skills / Technical Knowledge Required for this role
- Core Competencies
- Bilingual Expertise: Exceptional fluency in Arabic and English with a strong command of grammar, vocabulary and syntax in both languages.
- Translation Skills: Proven ability to translate complex and technical documents including legal, financial and regulatory texts.
- Cultural Sensitivity: Deep understanding of cultural and linguistic nuances to ensure contextually appropriate translations.
- Islamic Banking Knowledge: Familiarity with Islamic banking principles, terminology and regulatory frameworks.
- Quality Assurance: Expertise in document quality control, proofreading and formatting standards.
- Proficiency
- Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat and document management tools.
- Translation software and tools to ensure efficiency and consistency.
- Knowledge of governance and compliance systems relevant to the banking industry.
Qualification and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Translation, Linguistics or a related field.
- Certification: Hold a recognized professional certification in translation.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional translation experience, preferably in the banking or financial sector.
- Proven expertise in translating complex legal, financial and regulatory documents.
