Job Overview:
The Senior Enterprise Architect will own and lead the enterprise architecture strategy and execution for IDO and its portfolio companies, balancing hands-on technical involvement with strategic vision. This role involves assessing and optimizing the current technology landscape, implementing future-focused innovations, and ensuring alignment with IDO’s business objectives across business, application, technology, and infrastructure domains. The Senior Enterprise Architect will also serve as a Solution Architect and enterprise architecture reviewer for IDO portfolio companies, providing strategic guidance, architectural oversight, and harmonization to drive technology alignment and operational excellence across the portfolio.
Enterprise Architecture Strategy & Technical Governance:
- Lead the design, execution, and continuous improvement of IDO’s enterprise architecture framework, including Business, Application, Technology, and Infrastructure architecture layers.
- Combine hands-on technical engagement with strategic oversight to ensure that architecture practices directly support IDO’s operational and long-term objectives.
- Position the EA function as a strategic enabler, bridging technical implementation with organizational strategy, while promoting efficiency and innovation.
Solution Architecture and Review:
- Act as the primary Solution Architect for significant initiatives across IDO portfolio companies, defining solution designs that address business needs while aligning with IDO’s enterprise architecture principles.
- Conduct detailed reviews of portfolio companies' enterprise architecture, providing recommendations to address gaps, improve scalability, and ensure alignment with IDO’s strategic objectives.
- Identify opportunities for standardization and harmonization across portfolio companies' technology landscapes, ensuring economies of scale and reducing redundancy in technology investments.
- Work closely with portfolio company IT and business leaders to provide advisory support on technology strategy, architectural decisions, and the adoption of emerging technologies.
- Ensure portfolio companies' architectures adhere to regulatory and industry standards while maintaining flexibility to adapt to evolving business requirements.
- Monitor the implementation of architectural recommendations to ensure they drive measurable business outcomes and foster operational excellence.
- Maintain the architectural maturity across portfolio companies, providing structured reports to track alignment with IDO’s goals and enterprise architecture framework.
Technology Assessment and Experimentation:
- Conduct regular evaluations of existing tools, technologies, infrastructure, and applications to identify gaps and areas for optimization across the portfolio.
- Implement and lead hands-on experiments with emerging technologies to assess their relevance and impact on current operations, ensuring that viable innovations align with IDO’s goals.
- Maintain a portfolio-wide view of technology capabilities, continually assessing their alignment with strategic objectives and operational readiness.
Cost Management and Harmonization:
- Identify and drive opportunities for cost management and harmonization across portfolio companies, ensuring that architecture decisions maximize value and benefit from economies of scale.
- Provide architectural guidance that promotes a lean, efficient approach to technology investments, optimizing resources and minimizing redundancies within the portfolio.
- Evaluate technologies and platforms that align with IDO’s financial goals, contributing to a balanced approach to operational excellence and cost-effectiveness.
Strategy and Governance:
- Define and enforce architecture standards, principles, and governance frameworks that incorporate relevant industry best practices, ensuring alignment with IDO’s operational model.
- Establish a governance structure that balances compliance with flexibility, maintaining adherence to essential industry standards without sacrificing adaptability.
- Ensure all architectural frameworks support best practices for regulatory compliance across the portfolio, integrating them as required to strengthen operational resilience.
Provider and Technology Solution Evaluation:
- Manage the selection and evaluation of technology solutions and providers to ensure they meet the portfolio's strategic needs and quality standards.
- Align provider and solution selection with EA principles, ensuring consistency across the portfolio and optimizing long-term value and performance.
Stakeholder Collaboration and Engagement:
- Act as an advisor to business and technology leaders across portfolio companies, offering hands-on support and strategic guidance to drive alignment between architecture and business goals.
- Foster collaborative, cross-functional relationships to unify business and IT perspectives, ensuring that technology decisions reflect broader organizational priorities.
- Work closely with product managers, business leaders, and IT teams to communicate the EA’s value and secure alignment on technology roadmaps.
Orchestrating Business Outcomes and Solution Delivery:
- Ensure architecture planning and execution deliver measurable business outcomes, balancing short-term solutions with long-term strategic direction.
- Provide diagnostic insights, investment roadmaps, and architectural models that directly support decision-making, operational efficiency, and alignment with IDO’s business goals.
- Identify and recommend solutions that address gaps in the current and future-state IT environments, ensuring the architecture remains adaptable to evolving business needs.
Qualification & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technology, Computer Science, or Information Systems. A Master’s degree preferred.
- Over 7 years of experience in IT architecture or EA roles, with hands-on experience in technology assessment, architecture implementation, and digital transformation.
- Professional certifications in enterprise architecture (e.g., TOGAF) and IT governance (e.g., COBIT).
Skills:
- Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of EA tools, cloud services (SaaS, IaaS, PaaS), microservices, APIs, and data analytics, with a capability for hands-on implementation.
- Analytical & Strategic Vision: Ability to assess technology landscapes and drive hands-on innovation, with a focus on maximizing both strategic impact and operational alignment.
- Cost Management & Efficiency: Skilled in identifying cost-saving opportunities and applying harmonized solutions that benefit from economies of scale across diverse portfolio companies.
