About the Role : Zutari is seeking a Principal ELV / ICTS Design Engineer to join our growing team. This leadership role involves managing all aspects of project delivery, from concept design through to tender stage, ensuring alignment with client expectations, project timelines, and budgets. The candidate will also play a strategic role in shaping and mentoring the ELV / ICTS team and will act as a key liaison between global delivery teams and regional stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities :

• Project Management : Lead the delivery of ELV / ICTS design projects, including scope definition, scheduling, budgeting, and quality assurance to ensure successful and timely completion.
• Strategic Leadership : Contribute to the strategic planning and direction of the ELV discipline as part of the Leadership Team.
• Design Oversight : Oversee the design process from concept to final documentation, providing guidance and quality assurance at all stages.
• Team Leadership : Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a remote team based in South Africa, maintaining high performance through clear direction and motivation.
• Stakeholder Engagement : Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal teams to facilitate smooth project delivery.
• Technical Design : Prepare detailed reports, specifications, drawings, and commercial documentation in line with industry standards and client needs.
• Costing & Proposals : Develop cost proposals, scope of work documents, and perform cost analyses, applying value engineering for cost-effective solutions.
• Client Presentations : Represent the company in meetings, presenting design concepts and progress updates, and addressing client queries.
• Authority Liaison : Engage with local authorities to obtain design approvals and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Sub-Consultant Coordination : Manage proposals and oversee the work of sub-consultants to align with project goals.
• Problem Solving & Performance Management : Address technical and team challenges proactively, fostering a motivated environment.
• Talent Development : Support recruitment and onboarding of engineers, contributing to the growth of the Global Design Centre – RSA.

Qualifications & Experience :

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical / electronic engineering or related field (master’s preferred).
• Minimum 10 years' experience in ELV / ICTS system design within the built environment.
• Proven experience managing multi-disciplinary projects and remote teams.
• Strong knowledge of ELV systems (CCTV, access control, BMS, structured cabling, public address, fire alarms).
• Proficient in relevant design software and tools.
• Familiarity with international standards (BS, EN, TIA / EIA, NEC) and local regulations.
• Experience working with clients in the Middle East or Africa is advantageous.
• Strong commercial awareness, cost estimation, and value engineering skills.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
