Senior Consultant - Legal (Private Practice) at Madison Pearl

We are seeking a mid / senior corporate commercial lawyer to join the legal team of a Government Entity, based in Abu Dhabi. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in corporate commercial law (ideally from a Magic, Silver, US or Aus law firm), with extensive experience in handling legal matters across multiple jurisdictions, primarily within the MEA region. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent negotiation skills and the ability to manage complex legal issues, across borders, in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

This is an opportunity to join one of the biggest and the fastest growing legal teams to work directly with the Senior Legal Counsel, who reports to the Chief Legal Officer. Commercial contracts experience within the technology and software space would be beneficial. If you have predominantly worked within private practice throughout your career, at least a six-months secondment experience would be a plus.

The ideal candidate would already be based in the UAE, however the role is also open to candidates looking to relocate to Abu Dhabi.

Key Responsibilities :

• Provide expert legal advice and support on a wide range of corporate and commercial matters, including various commercial contracts, corporate governance, and competition law.
• Advise on regulatory compliance and ensure the company's operations adhere to local laws and regulations in the MEA region.

Contract Management :

• Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements, including supply chain and procurement agreements, distribution agreements, and service contracts.
• Ensure that all contracts are legally sound and align with the company’s strategic objectives.
• Identify and mitigate legal risks associated with the Company’s operations in the MEA region.
• Develop and implement risk management strategies and policies to protect the company’s interests.

Corporate Governance :

• Ensure compliance with corporate governance standards and best practices.
• Advise senior management on corporate governance issues.

Regulatory Compliance :

• Monitor and interpret changes in laws and regulations that may impact the company’s operations in the MEA region.
• Work with the Ethics & Compliance team to implement compliance programs to ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements.

Training and Development :

• Provide training and guidance to internal stakeholders on legal and compliance matters.
• Foster a culture of legal awareness and compliance within the organization.

Key Qualifications :

• Qualifying Law Degree from a recognized institution.
• Admission to practice law in a globally recognized common-law jurisdiction (ideally in the UK, US and Aus).
• 4 – 8 years of experience in corporate commercial law.
• Strong knowledge of commercial, corporate, and regulatory laws in the MEA region.
• Proven track record of successfully managing complex legal matters and negotiations.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams.

Preferred Attributes :

• Experience working in a multinational corporation or a top-tier law firm.
• Strong understanding of the business and cultural landscape of the MEA region.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• High ethical standards and integrity.
