Job Overview
The Data Protection Officer Banking Compliance - Singapore Desk UAE is responsible for managing data privacy risk and compliance for FAB s operations in Asia. The role includes monitoring evolving privacy laws, conducting DPIAs/PIAs, handling data subject access requests, leading incident response, and aligning with global information security standards and frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
* Serve as the Data Protection Officer for FAB Asia, covering Singapore and Labuan
* Oversee compliance with PDPA and other regional data protection regulations
* Periodically review and update the Data Privacy Framework and internal policies
* Lead assessments, audits, and privacy risk evaluations across business functions
* Manage Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs) and other data rights requests
* Coordinate data protection awareness and training programs
* Provide guidance on privacy issues related to cross-border data transfers and third-party vendors
* Lead and advise on privacy-related projects and regulatory engagements
* Supervise and review Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs)
* Handle privacy incidents and coordinate breach management activities
* Liaise with legal, compliance, InfoSec, IT, HR, and business units to ensure privacy integration
* Maintain and manage Information Notices, records retention practices, and internal governance reporting
* Serve as the SPOC for corporate governance matters across the Asia region in alignment with FAB Group Corporate Governance
Job Requirements
* Bachelor s degree in business, finance, law, engineering, or a related field
* At least 5 years of experience in data protection or privacy compliance
* Certified Data Protection qualifications such as CIPP, CIPM, or equivalent
* Background in legal, compliance, or information security highly preferred
* Familiarity with regional laws such as PDPA, and international privacy standards
* Experience handling data breaches, supervisory authority interactions, and privacy operations
* Understanding of cybersecurity risks and information security frameworks (e.g., PCI DSS)
* Project management experience is a plus
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; fluent in English, with an additional Asian language preferred
* Demonstrated ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality
* Knowledge of MAS-Individual Accountability and Conduct guidelines is an advantage
