Position: Senior Accountant (Client-Facing, Church Finance Focus)

Location: Remote (South Africa preferred)

Work Hours: Full-time, U.S. Eastern Time

Salary: 2500 - 3000 USD

We are seeking an experienced, client-facing finance professional to support a portfolio of U.S.-based nonprofit and faith-based organizations. This position is ideal for a senior-level accountant with strong financial advisory skills and a deep understanding of church-specific financial operations.

The role involves managing financial reporting, compliance, and strategic planning for multiple clients, while ensuring accuracy, transparency, and alignment with organizational goals. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and the ability to confidently interface with executive leaders, boards, and pastors.

• Manage financial operations for multiple nonprofit or church clients, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
• Ensure compliance with nonprofit and clergy-specific payroll, housing allowance, and tax regulations.
• Provide financial guidance to senior leadership teams and boards, including strategic and capital planning support.
• Participate in executive and board meetings, presenting financial insights and recommendations.
• Oversee monthly and quarterly financial close processes in coordination with back-office accounting teams.
• Drive process improvements and contribute to the scaling of the finance function.
• Train and mentor junior finance staff as the department grows.

• Proven experience in nonprofit or church financial management (required).
• Strong knowledge of U.S. tax and compliance regulations related to churches and clergy.
• Professional experience in accounting, financial advisory, or CFO-level support.
• Excellent spoken and written English, with a neutral or positive accent.
• Client-facing confidence and experience working with senior leaders.
• High emotional intelligence, organizational discipline, and responsiveness.
• Familiarity with U.S. nonprofit reporting (e.g., Form 990) is a plus.

• Based in South Africa, with availability to work U.S. Eastern Time hours.
• Strong communication and relationship management skills for working with faith-based organizations.
• Strategic thinker who can provide both financial leadership and operational insight.
• Ability to balance attention to detail with a focus on broader organizational goals.

This role is a key part of expanding a growing financial advisory practice serving nonprofit and church clients in the U.S. The right candidate will help alleviate current operational bottlenecks and lay the groundwork for scaling the department.
