- Coordination with External Suppliers: Organize and send BRC tools to external suppliers for calibration based on the required schedules. Create PRs and migo tools received.
- Verification of Tools: Schedule calibrations, Verify that the tools are within specification by reviewing calibration certificates and testing where applicable.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all tools sent for calibration, including dates, results, and any adjustments made by the supplier on the tool management system.
- Supplier Management: Build and maintain relationships with external calibration suppliers to ensure timely and accurate calibration services.
- Tool Tracking: Track the movement of tools to and from external suppliers, ensuring that all tools are accounted for and returned on time. Issue all assets (equipment) to relevant employees from out Assettagz.
- Reporting: Report any tools that are out of specification to the supervisor and work on corrective actions, such as repair or replacement.
- Inventory Management: Manage tools in the tools store and the BRC workshop. Keep a detailed log of tools, their calibration status, and ensure that tools are rotated efficiently for calibration without interrupting operations. Tag the equipment and add it to Assettagz (Barcode, Chip, Lazer, edging) and load info on to Assettagz program.
Carry out regular asset verifications audits throughout the company and ensure it is all physical identifiable (barcode, Chip, Lazer edging) – at least once every year on all assets.
- Compliance: Ensure that calibration processes meet company standards and comply with industry, ISO 9001 and safety regulations. Comply with company and customer safe work practices.
- Tool Handling and Storage: Ensure proper handling, labelling, and storage of tools before and after calibration to prevent damage or misidentification.
- Collaboration: Work closely with supervisors, quality assurance, and artisans to address any tool performance issues.
Qualification, Experience And Competencies
- Education: National Senior Certificate (NSC) or equivalent. (Additional technical training in metrology, quality control, or related field will be additional advantage).
- Experience: Prior experience in calibration coordination, quality control, or tool management.
- Key Competencies:
Knowledge of calibration standards and verification processes.
Strong organizational skills to manage the calibration schedule and supplier coordination.
Proficiency in reviewing calibration certificates and interpreting the results.
Ability to manage relationships with external suppliers and ensure timely service.
Basic knowledge of measurement and testing tools (callipers, micrometres, etc.).
Strong attention to detail for record-keeping and tool verification.
Good knowledge, understanding and exposure of ISO 9001 quality system.
