SGS South Africa, Matrolab Division, is seeking to fill a key role in its Civil Engineering Site and Commercial Laboratories. The role includes assisting the Supervisor/ Laboratory Manager with all tasks, whether it’s on site or in the commercial laboratory. Main tasks include performing administrative duties to provide assistance to SGS- Matrolab Laboratory and/or site laboratory, especially with the capturing of data.

The ideal candidate will have integrity, good interpersonal skills, and the ability to command respect from those he/she interacts with, while possessing enough energy and passion to maintain good staff relationships. A successful career will involve delivering performance against agreed strategic objectives, ensuring that all quality and testing methods are observed, and reporting any deviations without delay.

Job Description

General

1. Ensure adherence to Standard Operating procedures
2. Accurate capturing of data in an efficient time frame
3. Ensure adherence to company Code of Ethics
4. Ensure adherence to Quality Management Systems & implementation of Quality System
5. Ensure all duties are performed in accordance with accepted service delivery standards
6. Maintain quality, efficiency and confidentiality of service
7. Liaise with and assist Supervisor / Manager
8. Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system
9. Perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by direct line manager

Administration (any of the following as assigned and trained)

1. Ensure all messages are conveyed to relevant people
2. Assist with the maintenance of the sample registration as and when requested
3. Complete all work in an efficient manner and without delay

Sample handling and distribution of results (any of the following as assigned and trained)

1. Ensure prompt and efficient handling of documents and other instructions as trained and per applicable procedure
2. Attend to operational matters related to new and repetitive instructions received from supervisor/manager
3. Typing of documents including but not limited to reports, e-mails and documents

Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system.

Qualifications

1. Grade 12
2. Language: Proficiency in English and Afrikaans (Read, write, speak)
3. Computer literacy in Word, Excel, Outlook

Additional Information
