This is not a traditional treasury role.

As a Treasury Specialist, you will play a key role in modernising and scaling treasury operations within a fast-moving, globally connected financial services business. You’ll work at the intersection of finance, data, and technology, supporting automation, improving liquidity visibility, and strengthening funding and control frameworks.

This role is ideal for a proactive, analytical professional who enjoys improving how things work and wants to grow into greater ownership and responsibility within treasury.

Your Mission

To support and enhance Mukuru’s treasury operations by improving automation, strengthening liquidity and funding processes, and enabling smarter, faster, and more resilient financial decision‑making.

What You’ll Be Doing
Treasury Automation & Systems
  • Identify opportunities to automate and streamline treasury processes.
  • Collaborate with developers, finance systems and transformation teams to design, test and implement scalable treasury solutions.
  • Take growing ownership of treasury technology tools, reports and dashboards, including Treasury Management Systems (TMS).
Cash & Liquidity Management
  • Support daily cash positioning and intercompany liquidity allocation across multiple currencies and corridors.
  • Build, maintain and enhance automated cash flow forecasts, incorporating business volumes, settlement cycles and prefunding requirements.
  • Contribute analysis to improve cash concentration, pooling and repatriation structures.
Funding & Capital Support
  • Support administration and monitoring of funding and capital facilities, including utilisation tracking and settlements.
  • Develop automated tools for funding forecasts, utilisation and cost analysis.
  • Assist with modelling, documentation and analysis for new funding arrangements and strategic liquidity initiatives.
Process, Controls & Risk
  • Own and maintain assigned treasury process documentation and controls.
  • Work closely with Finance Transformation and Risk teams to ensure compliance with policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify inefficiencies and support the implementation of agreed improvements.
Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Partner with Financial Control, FP&A, Commercial Finance, Compliance, Legal and Payments teams.
  • Engage with banks, payment partners and external advisors on operational matters.
  • Act as a dependable support to the Treasury Manager, with increasing responsibility over time.
What You Bring
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field.
  • Professional qualifications (ACT, CA(SA), CFA) are advantageous.
Experience
  • 2–4 years’ experience in treasury téh finance operations or related roles.
  • Exposure to fintech, payments or remittance environments is beneficial.

  • Experience with finance automation, systems implementation or process improvement projects.
Skills & Knowledge
  • Solid understanding of liquidity, funding structures and financial instruments.
  • Strong Excel capability (lookups, pivots, modelling).
  • Exposure to ERP, TMS, Power Query or reporting automation tools is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.

  • Detail‑oriented, reliable and well organised.
  • Comfortable managing multiple workstreams across entities and currencies.
  • Confident working with internal and external stakeholders.
