Job description

Interwaste, a leader in waste management solutions across Southern Africa, is seeking a seasoned Transformation Officer/ BBBEE Compliance Officer to join our team at the Germiston branch for a fixed term period of six [6] months. With a commitment to sustainability, innovation, and operational excellence, Interwaste is dedicated to creating a better future by transforming waste challenges into impactful opportunities.

Role Overview

The Transformation Officer is responsible for driving, implementing, and monitoring the Interwaste Group’ B-BBEE and transformation strategy. Ensuring compliance with the relevant legislations to retain the company's level one status.

Key Responsibilities
  • Managing and updating the B-BBEE scorecard across all business activities, optimizing opportunities for points across all five elements (Ownership, Management Control, Skills Development, Enterprise & Supplier Development, and Socio-Economic Development).
  • Monitoring B-BBEE spending against targets, analysing data reports, conducting internal mini-audits, and recommending or initiating corrective action where necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation e.g BBBEE codes/ Act.
  • Developing effective internal and external stakeholder communication processes that specify the current and expected status of the organizations BEE strategy.
  • Provide advice to senior management and other stakeholder on BEE requirements and changes.
  • Coordinating and managing the annual B-BBEE verification process, which involves preparing all required evidence and documentation, liaising with the accredited verification agency, and addressing any identified gaps.
  • Provide quality feedback and monthly reports to the Group HR Director.
  • Being able to identify what projects qualify under Codes of Good Practice and Interpretative Guide which will allow improvement to the Empowerment Scorecard.
  • Developing and managing the ED/SD programs, which includes identifying potential beneficiaries, conducting due diligence, preparing agreements, monitoring progress, and managing the associated budget and documentation. This includes specific focus on Black-owned entities not currently in the supply chain (ED) and those already in the supply chain (SD).
Desired Experience & Qualification
  • 3 - 5 years’ experience in managing BBBEE and transformation within a medium to large-sized organisation.
  • Full understanding of the B-BBEE and related Acts as well as government strategies
  • Valid Drivers Licence
  • Excellent communication and presentation Skills
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Excel and BBBEE Trax
  • Having verification experience will be an advantageous.
