Job Description

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: The purpose of the Systems Analyst position is to analyse, configure, and support ERP application environments, ensuring the efficient and effective operation of business systems. The Systems Analyst liase with business stakeholders and development teams translating business needs and producing detailed logical and technical specifications, writing code, troubleshooting system functions, analysing and verify data, and performing thorough testing including functional, integration, stress testing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Requirement Management
  • Analyses user requirements getting a solid understanding of the need and expectation of coding deliverables.
  • Performs technical investigation, analysis, troubleshooting and debugging all or part of the technical change to improve system changes.
  • Uses approved standards, methods, techniques, and tools.
  • Optimisation of processes of running production environment
  • Responsible for development, delivery, testing, roll-out of assigned domain and products optimisation of processes of running production environment
  • Continuous improvement and enhancement of running production environment.
  • Conducting and understanding of requirements for new and enhancement change requests
  • Pro-actively identifies and troubleshoot problems and design changes to avoid recurring errors minimising the risk of system downtime.
  • Collaborates with business stakeholders ensure understanding of implementations of business requirements.
  • Programming and Testing
  • Produces and implements reusable, reliable and sustainable code according to technical specifications using approved standards, techniques and tools.
  • Identifies, communicates and escalates technical problems.
  • Troubleshoots, debugs and identifies problems and recommends changes to serve as permanent solutions.
  • Performs effective testing during the development life cycle ensuring program and program modifications meets the business requirements and satisfy quality.
  • Communicates test results to business stakeholders.
  • Produces and keeps system documentation up-to-date.
  • Support
  • Sustain production environment and serve as backup for product stream.
  • Maintains and amends existing moderate business process and solutions.
  • Reacts and resolves issues when reported.
  • Troubleshoots, debug and establishes workarounds while developing permanent solutions for the problems and errors ensuring maximum system availability, sustainability and stability to the production environments.

  • Working with IT Infrastructure and Architects ensure the implementation of safe and secure systems environment.
  • Projects
  • Serves as project team member with thorough understanding of the business requirements on projects of medium to large in scope and moderate in complexity.
  • Perform assigned activities according to approved methodologies, tools and standards.
  • Collaborate and build relationships across multi-business area.
  • Sustain Production environment and backup
  • Sustain quality of service and operations in accordance with agreed priorities and service level agreements and escalations. Ensure stability and reliable of production after & with change & release management. Backup and standby for ERP related systems
Minimum Requirements
  • Degree and/or Diploma and/or Certifications in Information Technology (NQF Level 7)
Experience
  • 3 years of programming experience in Java J2EE, Java script, SQL. (Excluding internship & onboarding)
  • 3 years’ Experience of enterprise applications (excluding internship & onboarding)
Key Functional/ Technical Competencies
  • Experience covering the following concepts and products:
  • Proficiency in system analysis, business process modelling, and workflow automation. Experience in the following environments: MS Power platform including Power Automate, Low code Platforms.
  • Knowledge of Apex, PowerBI an advantage.
  • Knowledge of different databases such as Oracle, MYSQL and Microsoft SQL
  • Knowledge of, SOAP-, Restful Service, and KAFKA will be an advantage.
  • Experience with DEVOPS activities and tools such as Jenkins an advantage.
  • General knowledge of business systems and development methodology, as well as database design, utilisation and programming.
  • Knowledge of Agile/Scrum an advantage.
  • Knowledge of Wiki mark-ups (preferably Confluence) and JIRA.

Remuneration

The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
