Overview

Job title: Surface treatment technician

Vacancy: Full time

Salary: Market - related

Responsibilities

• Prepare and treat surfaces (metal, plastic, or other materials) using various processes (e.g., polishing, coating, painting, blasting, or plating).
• Inspect finished products to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards.
• Operate and maintain treatment equipment and tools.
• Mix and apply chemicals, paints, or coatings according to job specifications.
• Follow safety procedures and ensure compliance with health and environmental regulations.
• Record production data and report any deviations or issues.
• Assist with process improvements to enhance efficiency and quality.
• Perform routine maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance.

Qualifications

• Matric / equivalent qualification (technical certificate or NQF level advantageous).
• Prior experience in surface treatment, painting, coating, or a similar role in manufacturing.
• Knowledge of surface finishing techniques and equipment.
• Ability to work shifts and in a production environment.
• Physically fit and able to handle manual tasks.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Safety-conscious with knowledge of chemical handling procedures.
• Advantageous: Trade test, technical diploma, or industry-related certification.
