Our Client is seeking a Service Manager to join their company in Uitenhage, Eastern Cape.

Job Requirements
  • Degree or National Diploma in Electrical Engineering/Qualified Artisan (Electrical)
  • 5 years post-qualification hands-on medium current electricity experience, preferably in an FMCG environment.
  • MV Switching will be an added advantage.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure
  • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and teamwork capabilities
Job Duties
  • Maintain processing machines to ensure >97% plant availability
  • Provide specialised electrical support and ensure maximum plant efficiency
  • Maintain sufficient stock back-up of critical hardware
  • Develop, install and refine existing hardware installations to improve reliability and functionality
  • Maintain regular contact with suppliers/OEMs to ensure software and hardware remain current
  • Plan scheduled maintenance with the Production Manager to minimize plant downtime
  • Perform scheduled maintenance on equipment, either in situ or in the workshop
  • Update maintenance schedules and report weekly on completed, pending and outstanding maintenance
  • Manage and perform root cause analysis on recurring breakdowns and implement measures to eliminate reoccurrences
  • Manage accurate recording of breakdowns
  • Draw up task clarifications of proposed projects involving changes to plant utilisation and/or new equipment
  • Specify the scope of work and source quotations from suppliers for hardware and software
  • Liaise with suppliers when order numbers are allocated
  • Develop software and install hardware as per the task clarification
  • Commission system
  • Play an active role in ensuring that all schedules and SOPs are in place regarding the field of work.
  • Perform over inspections on job cards allocated to electricians as per the schedule.
  • Adherence to the manufacturer’s service schedules will result in full warranty cover being maintained, which will result in a major cost saving in the event of a breakdown.
  • Adhere to communicated SOPs which relate to Engineering and the operations thereof.
  • Immediately stop any dangerous acts and immediately address any equipment that poses a risk to personnel
  • Ensure all electrical work complies with SANS Standards for installation work
  • Enforce the following internal safety systems: LOTTO (Lock out tag out)
  • Adhere to general manufacturing practices for a food environment
  • 100% compliance with the Health & Safety permit system.
  • Maintain high work and safety standards within the area of responsibility.
  • Conduct a thorough Good Housekeeping Inspection to ensure the plant\'s housekeeping standards are of a high standard.
