Job summary

Key Performance Areas

Strategy
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy.
  • Create business plans and budgets for the Fundraising department.
  • Review and oversee the stakeholder management plan.
  • Set and monitor fundraising targets to ensure financial sustainability.
Fundraising
  • Identify and attract both local and international donors.
  • Manage and oversee the Foundation's fundraising events and networking opportunities.
  • Identify and pursue fundraising opportunities, including sponsorships and resource mobilization.
  • Research organizations providing grants and philanthropic funding in education.
  • Encourage Board participation in fundraising initiatives.
  • Prepare and approve proposals, and present to potential and current funders.
  • Manage relationships with funders throughout the funding process.
  • Enhance the Foundation's profile through networking and securing new introductions.
  • Create and execute the fundraising plan to increase donations and sponsorships.
  • Collaborate with the Fundraising Manager and Campaigns & Events Manager to develop fundraising ideas and manage campaigns and events.
  • Build and maintain relationships with existing funders and identify new funding opportunities.
  • Engage potential funders to understand the Foundation's work and involvement opportunities.
  • Act as the primary liaison between funders and the Foundation.
  • Oversee the execution of fundraising campaigns and donor engagement initiatives.
Stakeholder Management and Engagement
  • Develop and maintain strategic partnerships.
  • Implement the Foundation's stakeholder engagement framework and tools.
  • Develop donor engagement plans to improve retention.
  • Represent the Foundation at networking events, presentations, and meetings.
  • Build and maintain a network of funders through active engagement.
  • Participate in forums and collaborate with partner entities.
  • Prepare reports on stakeholder management activities and effectiveness.
  • Manage stakeholder deliverables within the Fundraising department.
Talent Management and Development
  • Develop succession plans for key roles.
  • Manage team performance and conduct reviews.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and mentoring to team members.
  • Support employee development and career growth.
  • Promote the Foundation's values.
Reporting
  • Provide regular updates on fundraising performance, risks, and sustainability to the CEO.
  • Evaluate campaign success and identify areas for improvement.
  • Maintain detailed donor and engagement records.
  • Prepare reports, analyze data, and make recommendations.
Governance and Risk Management
  • Identify and manage risks within the Fundraising Department.
  • Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
  • Contribute to policy and procedure updates.
  • Uphold ethical fundraising principles and transparency.
  • Manage donor expectations and prevent misleading practices.
  • Diversify income streams to mitigate financial risks.
  • Advise on stakeholder management risks, opportunities, and threats.
Education and Experience
  • Relevant degree or qualification, preferably postgraduate.
  • Minimum three years of management experience, preferably at senior level.
  • Experience in writing donor proposals and reports.
  • Valid driver's license.
