Senior Manager – FAAS – Financial & Accounting Advisory
Primary Experience
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in the banking sector environment.
  • At least 4 years of experience within a prudential regulatory environment in Financial Services.
Regulatory Responsibilities
  • Knowledge of banking and the prudential regulatory environment.
  • Understanding of leading governance processes and controls to manage and monitor regulatory returns.
  • Knowledge of and experience in banking regulations and risk management.
  • Fully conversant in the Basel III framework at both a theoretical and practical level; up to date with best practice in regulatory reporting.
  • Understanding of developments regarding the Basel framework reforms (beneficial).
  • Understanding of current auditing techniques, specifically in respect of auditing regulatory returns.
Client Responsibilities
  • Understand our service offerings and actively identify opportunities to better serve clients.
  • Oversee consulting projects covering prudential requirements and/or risk-related aspects.
  • Provide consulting and advisory support and insights to financial services clients around regulatory and prudential aspects, including support in conducting regulatory reporting audits as required by the SARB.
  • Take a lead role in the consultation process for complex regulatory issues.
  • Manage engagement economics and communicate significant issues, fees and estimates to partners.
  • Assist partners with generating new business opportunities and building client networks and relationships.
  • Build strong and long-term relationships with key client sponsors.
  • Act as an ambassador of the firm in the market and with clients.
  • Build strong internal relationships within the firm and across other services.
  • Manage key components of multiple audit engagements including strategy, planning, risk assessment, team management, engagement economics and delivery of exceptional client service.
  • Deliver audit work that will result in the highest quality results during Audit Quality Review or external regulatory review.
  • Perform a detailed review of higher-risk areas to ensure technical accuracy and completeness, that sufficient and appropriate audit evidence is obtained and conclusions are appropriate.
  • Identify and implement operational efficiencies across projects.
People Responsibilities
  • Develop people through effectively supervising, coaching and mentoring all levels of staff.
  • Conduct performance reviews and contribute to performance feedback for all levels of staff.
  • Contribute to people initiatives including recruiting, retaining and training professionals.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of an educational program to continually develop personal skills.
  • Understand, follow and communicate workplace policies and procedures to all levels of staff.
  • Develop personal profile and awareness of the firm's offerings in the marketplace.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum CA (SA) or CFA and/or FRM advantageous or any postgraduate risk qualification.
  • Familiarity with SARB prudential requirements, such as Banks Act, Regulations and Basel framework.
  • Experience in the Financial Services sector from either an auditing or consulting perspective.
  • Minimum 4 years of post-article experience in engagement management, engagement execution and reporting, and client relationship building while serving clients in the banking/capital markets industry (including retail and business banking, commercial or investment banks, brokers/dealers, or similar institutions).
  • Understanding of Quality & Risk Management procedures within an audit firm.
