A prominent South African development-focused investment organisation is seeking a Senior Investment Associate to lead complex B-BBEE investment transactions. This role involves originating, structuring, negotiating, and implementing transactions, while mentoring a sub-team. Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ experience in private equity, project finance, or structured finance.
  • Demonstrated deal structuring and negotiation capability.
  • Strong project management and multi-stakeholder coordination skills.
  • Solid financial and commercial acumen with sound judgement under pressure.
  • BCom degree in Finance or Accounting (postgraduate qualification advantageous).

Responsibilities

  • Build and execute business development strategies to originate new investment opportunities.
  • Analyse sectors and markets to identify gaps, opportunities, and investment themes.
  • Structure and negotiate complex B-BBEE/impact-aligned funding solutions.
  • Lead due diligence processes and coordinate internal and external stakeholders.
  • Guide commercial terms and contribute to legal documentation preparation.
  • Drive transaction closure and oversee implementation through timely disbursements.
  • Proactively identify non‑compliance and emerging risk; implement corrective action plans.
  • Support portfolio management, client relationship sustainability, and value protection.
  • Mentor and guide Investment Associates and Analysts within the sub-team.

Senior Investment Associate | South Africa | Permanent

Ready to lead complex B-BBEE investment transactions end-to-end. Step into a senior deal-making role with real influence over outcomes and a mandate to grow impactful businesses.

This role is responsible for originating, structuring, negotiating, and implementing complex transactions, while managing and mentoring a sub-team across the full deal cycle. You will drive business development through strong market knowledge and stakeholder networks, identify investable opportunities through sector and gap analysis, and represent the organisation in relevant industry forums.

You will lead transaction execution from appraisal and due diligence through to term sheet negotiation, legal documentation input, and timely close. Post-investment, you’ll support deal sustainability through surveillance, compliance, proactive risk mitigation, and portfolio oversight, including engaging on solutions when challenges arise.
