Job summary

A leading recruitment agency is seeking a skilled Accountant in Johannesburg to manage full accounting functions and prepare financial reports. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in accounting and completed SAICA / SAIPA articles, with at least 3-5 years of experience in a relevant industry. Proficiency in accounting software and strong Excel skills are essential. You will ensure compliance with industry regulations and provide financial insights to support business decisions.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3-5 years experience in an accounting role, preferably within pharmaceutical, manufacturing, or FMCG industries.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, taxation, and inventory accounting.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.

Key Responsibilities / Duties

Manage the full accounting function including general ledger, journals, and reconciliations.

Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.

Monitor and manage cost of sales, inventory accounting, and manufacturing cost analysis.

Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed asset management.

Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.

Ensure compliance with pharmaceutical industry regulations, tax legislation, and financial reporting standards.

Support external and internal audits by preparing required documentation.

Implement and maintain internal controls to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including supply chain, production, and quality assurance.

Provide financial insights to support business decisions and operational strategies.

Qualifications & Requirements

Bachelors degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field (BCom Accounting or equivalent).

Completed SAICA / SAIPA articles or equivalent experience.

Minimum 35 years experience in an accounting role, preferably within pharmaceutical, manufacturing, or FMCG industries.

Strong knowledge of IFRS, taxation, and inventory accounting.

Proficiency in accounting software Advanced MS Excel skills.

Excellent attention to detail, analytical ability, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
