Position Overview

Security Officer – Full time.

Location: Witbank, Mpumalanga.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure the safety and security of all staff and customers by enforcing policies and procedures that prevent shrinkage and losses, while overseeing daily operational and maintenance needs of the store.
  • Perform all security duties according to company policies and procedures and follow correct emergency procedures.
  • Identify potential security risks, take appropriate action, inform relevant people, and safeguard company assets.
  • Stay consistently alert, vigilant, and aware of what is going on by scanning for areas that need attention and taking corrective action.
  • Handle challenging customers, stand for long hours, and assist with alarm call outs if necessary.
Qualifications
  • Must have a security qualification and a minimum of 2 years Retail Industry experience.
  • Must be registered with SIRA / SOB and hold a grade C registration.
  • Must have own reliable transport.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours / shifts.

  • Complete tasks accurately and precisely.
  • Be assertive in exerting influence confidently, firmly and fairly.
  • Show reliability and commitment to Pick 'n Pay by following directions, policies and procedures.
  • Remain calm and level‑headed while dealing with difficult/stressful situations.

  • Be able to evaluate security systems and procedures and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Be able to liaise with senior management, outside security organizations and SAP services.
  • Follow correct emergency procedures and ensure that security procedures are adhered to by employees and customers.
