Job description

Introduction

We are looking to recruit a permanent Finance Manager (Reporting) to work for United Pharmaceutical Distributors (UPD).

The role will be based at our Lea Glen – Roodepoort Branch and will report to the Head of Finance.

Duties & Responsibilities
Job Purpose

To take charge of the financial controlling function and be responsible for overseeing day-to-day financial operations, managing the general ledger, optimizing cash flow, and ensuring accurate and timely month-end reporting in line with the Group's deadlines.

The role will be responsible for the overall governance and risk management framework ensuring financial discipline and controls as well as maintaining and managing the billing of logistics and distribution fees.

Job Objectives
Financial Control

Develop and implement robust financial controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.

Regularly assess and enhance internal controls to mitigate financial risks.

Manage and complete the quarterly internal financial controls testing and process.

General Ledger Management

Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline and improve accounting processes.

Retain overall responsibility of the general ledger by reviewing transactions generated by operational finance managers.

Cash Flow and Working Capital Optimisation

Manage cash flow by forecasting, monitoring, and optimizing working capital.

Implement strategies to enhance liquidity and mitigate cash flow risks.

Month-End Reporting

Lead the month-end closing process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with the Group's reporting deadlines.

Ensure quality of financial information to support the FP&A function to prepare accurate and comprehensive financial statements and variance analyses for management review.

Budgeting and Forecasting

Work closely with department heads to develop and monitor budgets, specifically in relation to the Shared Services functions (DC Operational FM's will be responsible for this task at DC level).

Provide insightful analysis and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.

Financial Analysis

Conduct thorough financial analysis to support business initiatives and identify areas for improvement, specifically for the Shared Services functions.

Present financial insights and trends to senior management.

Ensure quality of financial information to support the FP&A function to prepare accurate and comprehensive financial statements and variance analyses for management review.

Statutory reporting

Preparation and management of annual external audit.

Revenue

Preparation and management of logistics and distribution fee billing and maintenance of conditions contracts in SAP to manage these processes.

Desired Experience & Qualification
Education

CA qualification or completed training contract (Essential)

The addition of a CIMA qualification would be advantageous

Job Experience

Minimum 5 years of relevant Finance experience, preferably in the FMCG or Pharmaceutical industry in a JSE Listed company.

Job Knowledge

Management and development of various costing models

Business process knowledge

Risk management and governance knowledge

IT literate, excellent MS Excel knowledge, familiarity with any ERP system and any integrated business analysis tool is a strong plus (SAP / BI / SAC)

Strong accounting knowledge.
