We have an opening for Road Freight – Domestic and Cross Border Controller in South Africa.
In this specific position you will co-ordinate, control, plan and manage all aspects of road freight cross-border (Import, Export & Bonded Transit) transportation.
Understand and process Road Freight shipment requests and execute them expertly.
Arrange bookings based on customer requirements with the most qualified and cost-efficient transport supplier.
Register shipments on CW1 and SALOODO! within the specified time frame (1 hour) after receiving shipping instructions.
Process shipping documentation acquired from customers to allow DHL CDZ to efficiently customs clear the shipment within 3 hours.
Ensure all shipping documents related to the file are accurately named and stored on eDOCS, following stated document-management best practices.
Load all ACRs and WIPs onto the registered file at the time of registration.
Ensure all files are properly billed within acceptable time frames, following best billing practices and ensuring accepted GP margins are maintained.
Coordinate the movement of cargo within required time frames to meet customer needs.
Manage and monitor all parties in the supply chain of the shipment (Shipper, Carrier, and Agents).
Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and customers.
Prepare specific customer reports whenever required.
Support the Head of Road Freight with negotiation and maintenance of supplier rates, contracts, new / changed systems, and directives.
Receive and accept transport orders from customers.
Book shipments with transporters on time.
Follow up on acquittals for RIT / RIB shipments.
Follow up on PODs (Proof of Delivery) with transporters.
Arrange the collection and packing of customer cargo.
Supply carriers with transport order instructions, CW1 reference numbers, and SALOODO! shipment numbers.
Send pre-alerts to customers, destination offices, and agents.
Invoice shipments based on estimates or rate agreements.
Produce thorough and accurate documentation ensuring customer satisfaction and compliance with regulations.
Participate in the department regarding industry or regulation changes.
Identify hazardous cargo and ensure it is transported under the right regime.
Follow up on Standard Operating Procedures (general or customer-specific).
Regulation knowledge – Local Customs, Destination Country Customs & Road Transport requirements.
CCO Certified on CW1.
SALOODO! admin-user experience.
Customer focused.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint & Word).
Capacity to work on Role 3 and manage Sickfile Dashboard.
Strong written and spoken communication skills.
Interpersonal skills.

Capacity to work under pressure.
3–5 years of related experience.
Must have a matric.
