• Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.

Introduction

A leading telecommunications service provider is seeking an experienced Regional Manager to oversee network operations within the MTN regional division.

The role requires a highly motivated and technically skilled individual who can drive network performance, manage multidisciplinary teams, and ensure that operational objectives are met with excellence.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day activities of regional network operations and ensure optimum network performance.
• Plan, monitor, and coordinate maintenance schedules, resources, and staff assignments.
• Lead and develop teams of Radio Engineers, Transmission Engineers, and Operations & Maintenance personnel.
• Ensure adherence to company procedures and standards, including ISO and QMS.
• Maintain strong working relationships with internal departments, contractors, and external stakeholders.
• Prepare and manage annual budgets, ensuring cost efficiency and alignment with business goals.
• Ensure availability of resources for planned network expansions and system improvements.
• Continuously improve network quality, reliability, and uptime.
• Conduct regular staff meetings, performance reviews, and reporting activities.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to ensure staff competency in emerging technologies.

Desired Experience & Qualification

• Diploma or Degree in Telecommunications, Light Current Electronics, or a related engineering field.
• Minimum 6 years' experience in the telecommunications industry, including at least 2 years in a Radio Engineer role within a GSM environment.
• Proven leadership and team management experience in engineering or network build environments.
• Strong understanding of Network Engineering and Build in areas such as SW, NGN / IMS, TX, IP, MW, DC Power, Copper & Fibre Access.
• Excellent project management and planning capabilities.
• Experience with budget preparation and financial management.
• Ability to perform effectively under pressure and handle multiple priorities.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, nights, and weekends when required.
