Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality diagnostic and interventional ultrasound studies.
• Assist the referring doctors and radiologists with procedures.
• Write diagnostic reports according to practice standards.
• Liaise with radiologists on the appropriate diagnoses and report content.
• Identify, prevent, and manage risks to ensure patient safety.
• Quality control tests as per SAHPRA Regulations.
• Assist with modality stock control and ordering of consumables.
• Assist with billing, procedural and ICD-10 codes.

Main purpose of job

Sonographers are primarily responsible for to produce high-quality ultrasound diagnostic images and right comprehensive reports on findings that aid in the diagnosis of patients, as well as interventional procedures within the scope of their practice.

Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality diagnostic and interventional ultrasound studies
• Assist the referring doctors and radiologists with procedures
• Write diagnostic reports according to practice standards

• Identify, prevent, and manage risks to ensure patient safety

Education

Essential Education

• B-Tech Radiography (Ultrasound)

Desirable Education

• Post qualification courses in MSK and vascular ultrasound
• Updated CPD points profile

Experience

Essential Minimum Experience

• Completion of Community Service
• Practical experience as per sonography qualification

Desirable Experience

• One-year prior experience in private practice sonography
