Job summary

A leading staffing company in South Africa seeks a Quantity Surveyor with at least 5 years' experience in estimating and surveying. You will be responsible for preparing and managing project Bills of Quantities, cash flow forecasts, and managing subcontractor accounts. Candidates with formal qualifications in Quantity Surveying such as NDIP or B-Tech will be prioritized, but extensive experience may suffice. Attention to detail and strong financial skills are crucial for success in this role.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Perform quantity take-offs from drawings.
• Compile and price Bills of Quantities (BOQ) from scratch.
• Prepare and monitor project cash flow forecasts.
• Vet, tender, and appoint subcontractors.
• Measure, cost, submit, and negotiate contract variations.
• Conduct onsite measurements.
• Manage subcontractor accounts.
• Prepare and issue subcontractor interim payment certificates.
• Prepare and submit all interim claims.
• Monitor costs against original tenders.
• Prepare and agree subcontractor final accounts.

Qualifications

• NDIP (Quantity Surveying) / B-Tech (Quantity Surveying)
• Note: Candidates without formal qualifications but with extensive experience will also be considered.

Experience

• Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience in quantity surveying / estimating.
• Strong financial and analytical skills.
• Excellent knowledge of CCS (Civil Construction Standards).
• Understanding of JBCC contracts.
• Sound knowledge of construction practices.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in cost management.
