Our vision for our Project Manager is to represent the Smollan IT business unit within the cluster, working across regions, teams, and solutions. They would ultimately work on one of our core system projects, along with other ERP solutions, people systems, and internal client projects. They would ideally have experience taking an unstructured environment, where they implemented PM processes and procedures, formalizing a new way of working. This person would be working across the different technical teams and therefore should have experience leading projects that developed complex technical solutions.

Job Summary

To define project objectives and plan, execute and finalise projects according to strict deadlines and within budgets. This includes acquiring resources and co-ordinating the efforts of team members and external vendors in order to deliver projects according to plan.

Responsibilities

Client Management

  • Manage client interactions and expectations
  • Develop client relationships
  • Communicate effectively with clients to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions
  • Build knowledge of client business and organisational objectives
  • Explain proposed solutions and make presentations as required

Communication and Liaison

  • Facilitate team and client meetings
  • Hold regular status meetings with project team
  • Communicate relevant project information to seniors
  • Resolve/escalate issues in a timely fashion
  • Communicate IT Policies and procedures to business
  • Communicate relevant SLA\'s to business
  • Track and report on project status
  • Create IT presence in Business through attending meetings and facilitating appropriate knowledge transfer
  • Help enforce IT policies and procedures through proactive communication
  • Involve correct IT specialists at appropriate times
  • Provide ongoing IT insight / expertise

Document Management

  • Create / collate relevant project documentation
  • Document procedures/manuals/information and policies as and when required

Management of Expense Budget for IT Projects

  • Set and agree budgets with IT General Manager
  • Provide budget input
  • Ensure expenses are in line with budget
  • Identify monthly variances and correct any errors

Project Management

  • Receive project brief from business
  • Determine project objectives, scope, deliverables, assumptions etc.
  • Meet relevant stakeholders and liaise with internal and external developers / persons regarding requirements
  • Apply project management processes through the phases of the project life cycle
  • Apply appropriate project management methodologies
  • Highlight potential risks
  • Create and chair steering committees when required
  • Ensure appropriate resolution for tasks/deadlines not met
  • Manage effective project execution and closure
  • Ensure use of relevant software (e.g., MS Projects)
