Job description

We are seeking the expertise of a Project Manager – IT & Business Systems, based in Johannesburg. The successful candidate, will play a key role in delivering a diverse portfolio of IT and business systems projects across the organisation. This role is responsible for end-to-end project delivery, including planning, budgeting, stakeholder engagement, governance, and execution across complex, multi-disciplinary environments.

Reporting to the IT Director, the Project Manager will work closely with internal teams, external vendors, and senior stakeholders to ensure that technology solutions are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned to business objectives. The role requires strong leadership, structured delivery, and the ability to operate confidently across both technical and business domains.

As a newly created position, this role offers the opportunity to establish and mature project and change management practices, influence delivery standards, and drive continuous improvement across the IT function. The successful candidate will contribute meaningfully to the organisation’s digital transformation agenda while working within a collaborative, globally connected environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the full lifecycle of IT and Business Systems projects from initiation through to closure, including scope definition, planning, scheduling, and delivery.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, timelines, budgets, and governance documentation.
  • Allocate and coordinate resources effectively to optimise the use of people, technology, and budget.
  • Engage and communicate proactively with stakeholders, vendors, and internal teams, providing clear updates on progress, risks, and dependencies.
  • Monitor and control project budgets and schedules to ensure cost-effective and timely delivery.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and issues, both technical and non-technical.
  • Ensure project delivery aligns with agreed standards, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Support change management activities and contribute to continuous improvement of project delivery processes.
  • Travel to operational or site-based locations when required to support project delivery.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience managing IT and/or Business Systems projects.
  • Proven experience delivering ERP system implementations or upgrades (essential).
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects with budgets in the range of R10 million – R25 million.
  • Formal certification and hands-on experience using delivery frameworks such as Agile, PRINCE2, and/or PMP.
  • Strong understanding of business IT systems, software development lifecycles, testing, and infrastructure.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage complexity across multiple concurrent initiatives.
  • Highly organised, deadline-driven, and comfortable operating in fast-paced environments.
  • Proactive, resilient, and solution-oriented with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
