A luxury cruise company in Cape Town is seeking a Pool Maintenance Specialist to clean and maintain pools on cruise ships. Responsibilities include testing chemicals, monitoring equipment, and providing customer service. Job description

Clean and maintain pools on luxury cruise ships, following established cleaning procedures and schedules.

Responsibilities include:

  • Test and balance pool chemicals to ensure safe and sanitary conditions
  • Vacuum and skim pool surfaces to remove debris
  • Brush and scrub pool walls and floors to remove algae and other buildup
  • Monitor and maintain pool equipment, such as pumps and filters, to ensure proper functioning
  • Report any maintenance or repair needs to supervisor in a timely manner
  • Provide exceptional customer service to passengers and crew members, addressing any concerns or questions regarding pool maintenance
  • Follow all safety protocols and guidelines while working on cruise ships
  • Keep accurate records of pool maintenance and chemical levels
  • Assist with other duties and tasks as needed

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in pool cleaning and maintenance preferred
  • Knowledge of pool chemicals and equipment, and ability to troubleshoot and make minor repairs
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow cleaning procedures and schedules
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Physically able to perform tasks such as lifting and carrying pool cleaning equipment, and working in various weather conditions
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
