Job summary

A local recruitment agency is seeking a highly organised Financial Accountant to manage core accounting operations for approximately 30 hours per week. The role involves preparing financial statements, overseeing accounts payable and receivable, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. Applicants should have a degree in Accounting or Finance, 5+ years of financial accounting experience, and familiarity with Sage Pastel is advantageous. This is a part-time position based in Tokai, Southern Suburbs, Cape Town.

We are looking for a highly organised Financial Accountant for approximately 30 hours per week to manage core accounting operations, ensure accurate financial reporting, and support leadership with financial insights. This position is based in Tokai, Southern Suburbs, Cape Town.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare monthly management accounts and annual financial statements (IFRS for SME's).
  • Manage general ledger, journal entries, reconciliations, and month and year-end close.
  • Preparation of monthly billings.
  • Oversee accounts payable/receivable and ensure correct VAT treatment.
  • Handle statutory submissions (VAT, Annual Returns) and support external audits.
  • Monitor cash flow and bank reconciliations.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Maintain accounting systems and improve processes.
  • Provide clear financial insights to internal stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Degree in Accounting/Finance
  • SAIPA qualification beneficial
  • 5+ years' financial accounting experience
  • Working knowledge of Sage Pastel advantageous
