MEDICAL REGISTRAR - OBSTETRICS AND GYNAECOLOGY

Requirements
  • An appropriate qualification that allows registration with the HPCSA as Medical Practitioner, HPCSA registration as an Independent Medical Practitioner. Must have completed Community Service. Current registration with HPCSA for 2025/2026. Having Part 1a and Part 1b will be advantageous.
Duties
  • The incumbent will interview, investigate, diagnose, and oversee the treatment of patient related administrative duties, participate in all activities of the discipline in relation to teaching and research, participate in departmental audit activities, prepare and write reports, liaise and communicate services.
  • Supervise junior doctors (undergraduate students, interns, and community service doctors).
  • Attend relevant administrative meetings like mortality meetings, near miss meetings, and complete MEDICO Legal Documents timeously (e.g., Death certificate).
  • Improve quality of care by 116 providing appropriate clinical care.
  • Reduce medical litigation by exercising good clinical ethos.
  • Implement and monitor adherence to National Core Standards (Norms and Standards).
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team to manage patients.
  • Performance of practical procedures relevant to the care of patients.
  • Ensure effective administration and safe keeping of records in the department.
  • Willing to work longer hours (night, weekend and public holiday) to provide continuous uninterrupted care of patients.
  • Render clinical services, assessments and treatment of patients; the incumbents will be rotated through related departments at various hospitals, comprising hospitals served in their specific outreach programmes.

  • These positions will be joint appointments between the Gauteng Department of Health and the following academic institutions: University of Witwatersrand / University of Pretoria and/ Sefako Makgatho University.
