A leading insurance provider is seeking a Marine Claims Specialist to manage high-severity and complex marine claims with minimal supervision, while delivering a customer-focused, efficient, and compliant claims service.

Responsibilities

• Promptly handle and resolve marine claims, ensuring clear communication with customers and external contacts.
• Develop claim strategies to assign reserves, conduct investigations, and engage appropriate suppliers.
• Assess claims value using evidence and identify fraud or recovery opportunities.
• Finalise claims within authority limits, ensuring optimal settlement outcomes.
• Engage with reinsurers and global claims teams for high-value cases.
• Ensure compliance with local regulations and governance throughout the claim lifecycle.
• Follow customer-specific protocols and service charters to meet expectations.

Qualifications & Experience

• 5+ years of marine or complex claims experience.
• Strong technical knowledge of claims handling across various lines.
• Deep understanding of legal liability, litigation processes, and industry standards.
• Proven experience with complex coverage issues and working with expert consultants.
• Customer-centric mindset with the ability to manage difficult claims.

• High-level understanding of interdependencies with functions such as Underwriting, Legal, Finance, and Reinsurance.

Stakeholder Engagement

• Internal: Work closely with Claims, Underwriting, and other internal stakeholders.
• External: Liaise with customers, brokers, intermediaries, suppliers, and participate in customer meetings to support retention and proposition development.
