The Role
As Manager: Test Engineering, you’ll lead and scale a high-performing test engineering function responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and compliance of complex software products across mobile, web, and integrated systems.
This role blends hands‑on testing leadership, people management, and quality governance, operating within a regulated medical technology environment. You’ll shape test strategy, improve automation maturity, and ensure products meet both user and regulatory requirements.
What You’ll Be Doing
Test Engineering Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of test engineers across multiple products
- Drive recruitment, onboarding, training, and ongoing skills development
- Set clear accountability, goals, and performance standards
- Foster a culture of quality, ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Provide technical coaching and hands‑on guidance where needed
- Build and maintain team morale while delivering at pace and quality
Test Strategy, Planning & Execution
- Define and evolve test strategies, processes, and methodologies across the SDLC
- Design and oversee test plans, test cases, test data, and test environments
- Ensure testability is considered early through active participation in requirements and design reviews
- Plan and manage end‑to‑end test cycles, including regression, integration, UAT, and release testing
- Drive continuous improvement of test coverage, efficiency, and automation
Automation, Tooling & Technical Oversight
- Oversee and improve automated testing frameworks and tools
- Ensure effective use of tools such as Selenium, Appium, Cypress, Zephyr, BrowserStack, Postman, and JIRA
- Support testing across Android, iOS, web platforms, browsers, devices, and hardware integrations
- Guide teams on test automation strategy, tooling selection, and best practices
- Ensure testing is repeatable, benchmarked, and aligned with functional requirements
Project Planning & Delivery
- Estimate testing effort accurately, including regression cycles and release readiness
- Contribute to project planning, work breakdown structures, and delivery timelines
- Track progress, risks, and dependencies using JIRA
- Proactively identify risks, blockers, and quality concerns and escalate appropriately
- Coordinate release readiness and deployment communication
Reporting, Documentation & Stakeholder Engagement
- Ensure high-quality test documentation, reports, and release notes
- Maintain testing artefacts, templates, and standards
- Provide clear, regular progress updates and status reports to stakeholders
- Lead review sessions of designs, requirements, and test outcomes
- Collaborate closely with engineering, product, and cross‑functional teams
Quality Management & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with Quality Management Systems (QMS)
- Support CE, ISO, FDA, and related regulatory standards
- Ensure testing aligns with specifications, user needs, and quality objectives
- Drive continuous improvement in quality processes and practices
- Safeguard data, documentation, and system integrity
What We’re Looking For
Essential Experience & Skills
- 7+ years’ experience in software testing
- 3+ years’ experience managing or leading test/QA teams
- Strong understanding of SDLC and STLC
- Hands‑on experience testing mobile (Android & iOS), web, and integrated systems
- Strong experience with test planning, execution, reporting, and automation
- Experience working in Agile development environments
- Proficiency with JIRA and Agile QA processes
Technical & Domain Knowledge
- Automated testing tools and platforms
- Test case design based on requirements and user stories
- Smoke, functional, regression, and post‑deployment testing
- Basic understanding of databases and SQL
- Familiarity with common software failure patterns
- Coding or scripting experience (HTML, JavaScript, Kotlin, Swift advantageous)
Nice to Have
- Experience in regulated or medical software environments
- Hardware integration testing exposure
- Strong background in test automation strategy and scaling
