Job Description - Maintenance Team Member (HOT0C)

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day general maintenance duties within the hotel rooms and public areas
• Organise the work area to be able to execute assigned repair & maintenance tasks effectively & efficiently, to the required standard, and in line with our quality and service standards
• Perform a variety of repair and maintenance tasks including, but not limited to carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, AC, landscaping, and painting in all areas of the hotel
• Respond to guest calls and team member work orders in a timely, friendly and efficient manner to assess and repair non-functioning machinery and / or equipment
• Engage with guests in public areas and corridors, greet politely, and seek feedback to improve guest experience while performing repair tasks
• Take a leading role in ensuring the full functionality of equipment, infrastructure, or machinery in your area of expertise; perform repairs and maintenance with minimal explicit instruction, and consult with the Engineering, Health & Safety Manager for more complex problems
• Contribute ideas to reduce hotel operating costs and conserve energy and water
• Record and report completed repairs and items requiring further attention to the Engineering, Health & Safety Manager
• Be a reliable and motivated member of the Engineering, Health & Safety team
• Communicate proactive, clear and constructive with other team members to deliver great guest experiences
• Be willing to assist in other departments during busy periods as required
• As instructed by the Engineering, Health & Safety Manager or Maintenance Supervisor, spend at least 30 minutes per day working alongside colleagues in Guest Operations (e.g., F&A service, stewarding, housekeeping or front office)
• Provide constructive suggestions / feedback to your Line Manager on products, processes and procedures to contribute to continuous improvement
• Attend planned team meetings and learning sessions as required
• Be open to learning something new every day
• Volunteer to participate in company campaigns like Travel with Purpose or Team Member committees
• Execute any other duties as assigned by your Line Manager and the Hotel Leadership team
• Perform any other tasks as requested by the Chief Engineer to ensure the smooth operation of the hotel

Qualifications

• Previous maintenance experience, preferably in a hotel or a similar varied work environment such as ships, hospitals or retail businesses
• A certificate in Engineering, preferred
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work without close supervision and within established timeframes
• Strong work ethic
• A passion for managing a variety of projects and tasks throughout the day
