Job description

Position available at a manufacturing / production plant in Pinetown for a qualified and experienced maintenance millwright. The main purpose is to repair and maintain all buildings and electrical- and mechanical aspects of machines, equipment and tools.

Job Requirements

  • Millwright trade test certificate (Electrical & Mechanical).
  • Minimum five (5) years' experience as a qualified artisan.
  • Mechanically sound and electrically strong.
  • Code B driver’s license.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety rules and regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Asset management to maintain buildings, structures, equipment and machinery in standard conditions.
  • Conduct inspections, breakdowns and preventative maintenance.
  • Annual shutdown action plan, resource allocation and execution.
  • Attend and react to standby and callouts expediently.
  • Act as a Health and safety custodian and ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
  • Maintain manufacturing / production of electrically driven machines, and electronic control gear equipment.
  • Diagnose and execute fault-finding and repairs on equipment failures to effectively minimise machine and equipment downtime.
  • Maintenance, reconstruction and installation of machinery and equipment.
  • Propose modifications to machines and equipment for better performance or Health and Safety improvements.
  • Financial controls of maintenance budgets.
  • Training of maintenance team and mechanical- and electrical trainees / learners.
