Green Unlimited is an authorised person in terms of section 124 the National Water Act 36 of 1998 ("the Act"), with powers and duties outlined in section 125(1), (2), and (3) of the Act. The organization is committed to the effective management and regulation of water resources across South Africa. Green Unlimited plays a key role in ensuring compliance with the Act and promoting sustainable water practices that align with national objectives.

Role Description

This is a full-time hybrid role for a Litigation Counsel, based in Nelspruit with the option to work remotely. The Litigation Counsel will manage and oversee legal proceedings, provide expert legal advice, draft and review legal documents, and represent the organization in courts. Responsibilities include resolving legal disputes, handling negotiations, and ensuring compliance with the National Water Act 36 of 1998 and other relevant statutes.

Qualifications
  • Expertise in Law and Legal Issues, including legislative and regulatory frameworks
  • Proven experience in providing Legal Advice and representing clients in legal matters
  • Knowledge of court procedures and processes
  • Exceptional skills in Negotiation and conflict resolution
  • Excellent analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail
  • Bachelor's degree (LLB) or higher in Law, with admission as an attorney or advocate
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in working both independently and collaboratively within a hybrid model of on-site and remote work
  • Knowledge of section 155 of the National Water Act 36 of 1998 will be a significant advantage.
