Two Opportunities
Role 1: Learning Experience Designer (on specific project)
In this role, you will join the project team to develop occupational programmes for professionals working in or entering the water and wastewater sector.
You will help design and build a key South African Water Services Provider's flagship courses:
- Water Treatment Foundations (NQF 6 | hours of student learning)
- Water Treatment Plant Design (NQF 8 | hours of student learning)
- Wastewater Treatment Foundations (NQF 6 | hours of student learning)
- Wastewater Treatment Plant Design (NQF 8 | hours of student learning)
Working closely with the Programme Director and subject matter experts, you will:
- Take a course blueprint and translate it into clear, structured online lessons, activities, and assessments.
- Apply sound learning design principles so that outcomes, content, and assessment are aligned and suitable for Occupational NQF Levels 6 and 8 expectations.
- Use our custom GPTs and Moodle templates to generate long‑form draft content, then refine, reorganise, and tighten it so it works pedagogically and reads well for adult learners, whilst adhering to the course blueprint.
- Keep an eye on accessibility, clarity, and load for learners in a South African context (bandwidth, devices, language).
- Collaborate with SMEs to check technical accuracy and relevance, then implement their feedback carefully and systematically.
- Build approved learning materials directly in Moodle (e.g., pages, books, quizzes, forums, simple activities), ensuring navigation is logical and learner‑friendly.
- Manage your own workload and timelines within allocated periods, communicating clearly with the project lead so that dependencies across the multi‑module programme stay on track.
Minimum Education and Experience
- Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree (in any field).
- Minimum Experience: 2+ years working in edtech or higher education contexts to create online or blended learning programmes.
Minimum Skills and Abilities
- Comfortable taking a detailed course blueprint and turning it into clear, well‑structured online content and activities without deviation.
- Confidently use AI in your workflow to write clear, engaging, educationally sound online content and activities, turning complex technical material into long‑form content adults can actually use.
- Critical thinker with the ability to refine and quality‑check course materials even when you're not an expert in the subject matter.
- Take ownership of your work and deliver on your promises, managing yourself well by planning work, hitting deadlines, and communicating proactively in a remote/hybrid team.
- Work well with others – especially project leads and SMEs – and be comfortable taking detailed feedback and implementing it carefully.
Desired Education, Experience, Skills and Abilities
- Degree in a Science or Engineering field and/or experience developing learning materials in technical or STEM domains.
- Postgraduate qualification (in any field) and/or experience contributing to large, multi‑module programmes at occupational NQF levels 6–8 (or an equivalent national qualifications framework).
- Experience creating or using custom GPTs or similar tools to generate long‑form course content at scale.
- Experience building courses directly in Moodle.
