Job Position : Lead Construction Health, Safety and Environmental Officer Ref : 4990

Location : Eastern Cape

Salary : Negotiable, commensurate with qualification and experience

Qualifications / Certifications Required :

  • SAMTRAC / NEBOSH Certificate
  • ISO 45001, 14001, 9001 – Introduction
  • Proven experience in HSE within a Construction company handling large projects (essential)
  • Experience in Legal Liability, Risk Assessment, Incident Investigation
  • Professional registration: SACPCMP registration as a CHSO

Key Performance Areas :

  • Implement HSE elements
  • Promote and maintain HSE compliance onsite and ensure adherence to legislative standards and regulations
  • Conduct audits and vetting processes
  • Assess and approve contractor health and safety documentation; guide contractors as needed
  • Draft and implement task-specific risk management documentation
  • Develop project-specific emergency preparedness plans and review their effectiveness
  • Conduct site inductions and coordinate relevant training
  • Maintain ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 certifications
  • Prepare inspection checklists and ensure completion by responsible personnel
  • Manage all incidents, provide First Aid when necessary, and compile reports
  • Record and report HSE-related matters; oversee document control
  • Maintain non-conformance registers
  • Assist with site shutdown procedures
  • Serve as an expert advisor on HSE matters
  • Mitigate risks and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Track penalties and contra charge costs
