Kearney HR Manager Johannesburg

Full‑time – Middle East & Africa (Johannesburg). The HR Manager reports directly to the HR Director – MEA and is responsible for providing practical, consistent, and proactive support, direction, and advice to division managers on HR procedures, policy, best practice, employment rewards, benefits, and legislation to facilitate the organization’s objectives and targets.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting and advising management on human‑resource issues; investigating HR‑related problems and making recommendations to the organization.
  • Providing pragmatic and consistent guidance and advice to employees and managers on HR matters.
  • Briefing new managers on the policies and procedures of the organization in conjunction with the development and learning team, and coaching them on difficult and complex issues.
  • Raising proactive issues with managers, identifying practical solutions to complex and diverse HR issues, and recommending appropriate action plans.
  • Monitoring and providing timely and quality advice on engaging foreign nationals.
  • Leading day‑to‑day payroll administration and acting as the initial point of contact for payroll inquiries and issues.
  • Collecting ongoing information regarding employee satisfaction on salary packages, wages, working conditions, etc.
  • Defining the learning strategy and recruitment with the Recruiting Committee, setting high‑standard principles, and providing likely solutions.
  • Liaising with the recruitment team on salary levels for existing and prospective staff consistent with market conditions and policies.
  • Receiving employee complaints and acting accordingly to resolve them.
  • Utilizing external resources to monitor issues and concerns in employment law, communicating potential changes to senior management.
  • Reviewing and revising HR policies in compliance with changing or new legislation, and developing new policies as required.
  • Co‑developing (with the Unit Head Africa) and executing a BB‑BEE strategy for the South African entity, aiming at achieving a leading contribution level in the consulting industry.
  • Demonstrating in‑depth knowledge of consulting services and Africa, with sound experience in local employment laws.
  • Exhibiting knowledge of current and possible future policies, practices, and trends.
Qualifications
  • Hold a university degree or equivalent in human resources or a related business field.
  • Have 7+ years of relevant HR management experience in a related industry.
  • Have good knowledge of HR law and practices.
  • Have strong project management, time management, and leadership skills.
  • Have solid problem‑solving and business acumen skills.
  • Have a strong level of influence and negotiation skills.
  • Be able to deliver effective results, meet tight deadlines and targets.
  • Have good judgment and decision‑making skills.
  • Have high‑level knowledge of employment legislation.
  • Be proficient with budget management and calculations.
  • Be able to influence and persuade senior management level.
  • Be an articulate communicator and can interpret and explain written and statistical data to a wide range of audiences.
  • Have a high standard of attention to detail.
  • Be committed to customer or employee service.
  • Be able to convey difficult and challenging information to managers.
  • Be fluent in both written and spoken English.
  • Be highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and the internet.
