LekkeSlaap is seeking a detail-oriented Junior Financial Controller to join our finance team. This is a fantastic opportunity if you're an aspiring financial professional looking to advance your finance career in the fast-paced digital environment. You will play a key role in supporting the financial operations of our fast-growing platform.

In this position, you will assist with payroll, manage reconciliations, and support finance operations to ensure the continued growth of LekkeSlaap. As a Junior Financial Controller, your analytical skills and attention to detail will contribute to the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting.

Responsibilities
  • Financial Reporting: Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts and perform bank reconciliations.
  • Reconciliation: Perform reconciliations of payment gateways and supplier accounts to ensure accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Journals & Close: Prepare journal entries and support month-end and year-end closing activities.
  • Accounts Payable & Receivable: Reconcile customer and partner accounts to maintain financial accuracy and stakeholder trust.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with operations teams to resolve finance-related queries efficiently.
  • Payroll: Assist with monthly payroll processing and reconciliation.
  • Audit Support: Prepare working papers and documentation to support the annual audit process.
  • Tax: Complete all relevant tax returns on SARS eFiling for review, including income tax, dividend tax, provisional tax, VAT201s, and EMP201s.
  • Improvements: Identify and recommend opportunities for process improvement, contributing to a scalable and efficient digital finance environment.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
  • Completed SAIPA / CIMA articles or 3 years of experience in a financial role, preferably in accounting or financial reporting
  • Strong understanding of financial principles, accounting practices, payroll, and employee tax
  • Proficient in MS Excel and financial software (experience with accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, or similar preferred)
  • Experience in QuickBooks Online and PaySpace would be advantageous
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise effectively
  • Able to perform under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Willingness to learn, adapt, and grow within a dynamic, fast-paced industry
  • Solution-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

Nice to Haves
  • Auditing experience is a plus, but not a requirement.
  • Experience in QuickBooks Online and PaySpace would be advantageous.
  • Experience working with Dext.
  • Knowledge of South African financial regulations and compliance is advantageous
