Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics or Business (postgraduate advantageous).
- Professional progress toward CFA/CFP (preferred).
- Fluent in Afrikaans, due to clientele (highly preferred).
- Meets FAIS Fit & RE5 completed (advantageous).
- 5+ years’ experience in LISP platform or asset management distribution roles within retail or wholesale channels - with demonstrable track record of securing fund-flow wins through established industry relationships.
- Established relationships with DFMs, multi-managers, platforms/LISPs and research/IC decision-makers
- Sales/front office experience (“hunter”) – presenting to clients
- Demonstrated expertise in portfolio construction principles including risk/return drivers, drawdowns analysis, benchmarks comparison, and peer group evaluation within asset management contexts.
- Comprehensive product fluency across building-block funds, specialist fixed income instruments, and multi-asset fund structures; able to translate complex investment processes into practical use cases for diverse buyer segments.
- In-depth understanding of the wholesale landscape encompassing DFM/multi-manager research processes as well as LISP/platform onboarding mechanics and due diligence workflows.
- Proven commercial discipline evidenced by structured opportunity management practices - qualification through progression to closing - and data literacy supported by rigorous CRM usage.
Responsibilities
- Develop and nurture a focused book of professional relationships across priority discretionary fund managers, multi-managers, platforms, institutional consultants, and other wholesale investors to secure approvals, listings, and funding decisions.
- Position building-block equity strategies, multi-asset funds, and specialist fixed-income products with clear, compliant narratives tailored to specific portfolio roles and client objectives.
- Lead due diligence and investment committee-style engagements by articulating process details, risk management approaches, performance metrics, and peer context to prospective clients.
- Convert qualified sales opportunities into durable flows through disciplined pipeline management, accurate forecasting, meticulous CRM hygiene, and timely follow-through on all interactions.
- Represent the organisation at targeted events such as webinars and research forums while creating meaningful follow-ups that generate tracked business opportunities.
- Uphold governance and conduct standards by recording all client interactions accurately and adhering strictly to regulatory requirements including FAIS/FSCA, TCF, POPIA, and financial promotions guidelines.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams including partner development, marketing, and investment specialists to ensure technical depth in client engagements and seamless operational execution.
- Translate complex investment processes into buyer-specific use cases that resonate with professional audiences across retail and wholesale channels.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, competitor offerings, and evolving client needs to inform product positioning and strategic engagement plans.
- Local travel to clients
- Exceptional communication skills as both a confident presenter at industry events/webinars/research forums and a precise writer capable of producing crisp follow-ups or handling technical Q&A sessions credibly.
