Main Purpose of Job

The Integration Architect: Administrative Applications is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable and secure integration solutions across all non-clinical systems within Mediclinic. This includes administrative, bespoke, and enterprise applications such as ERP, HR, finance, facilities, and other supporting platforms.

While the role does not include direct responsibility for clinical systems, it requires close collaboration with the clinical integration team to ensure consistent enterprise-wide interoperability, alignment of standards, and effective data exchange across domains. The Integration Architect ensures that all non‑clinical integrations adhere to architectural, compliance, and performance standards and that integration solutions contribute to the organisation's broader digital transformation and operational efficiency objectives.

Key Responsibility Areas
  • Solution architecture & design: Design and maintain scalable integration architectures for administrative applications, ensuring alignment with enterprise integration strategies and standards.
  • Interoperability enablement: Develop and maintain secure and compliant interfaces using protocols such as HL7, FHIR, and messaging standards used in financial and administrative systems.
  • API gateway & integration management: Manage API lifecycle using enterprise API Gateway tools, ensuring availability, performance, and security of exposed services.
  • Collaboration and stakeholder engagement: Collaborate with internal departments (e.g., finance, HR, clinical admin), and external vendors to gather requirements, define integration specs, and ensure solution delivery.
  • Quality assurance & compliance: Ensure integrations are tested, documented, and meet data privacy and interoperability compliance requirements (e.g., POPIA, HIPAA equivalents).
  • Continuous improvement & innovation: Identify opportunities for automation and improvement in administrative data flows and recommend emerging technologies.
  • Technical documentation & knowledge transfer: Produce and maintain clear technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and integration specifications. Mentor integration programmers and lead structured knowledge transfer initiatives.
Educational Requirements

Essential Education

  • Degree or formal ICT / Computer Science certification.

Desired Education

  • Master’s Degree in Health Informatics or Technology Management.
  • Certification in integration platforms (e.g., Mulesoft, Boomi, or Azure Integration Services).
  • Certification in healthcare interoperability (e.g., HL7, FHIR).
  • TOGAF or equivalent enterprise architecture certification.
Required Experience

Essential Minimum Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years in systems integration architecture / landscape within enterprise environments, preferably in healthcare or other large-scale organisations.
  • At least 3 years of experience working with administrative systems (ERP, HRMS, billing) in a healthcare context.
  • Hands‑on experience with API gateway management platforms.
  • Understanding of data exchange standards.

Desired Experience

  • Experience with HL7, FHIR, and secure financial messaging (e.g., SWIFT, ISO 20022).
  • Exposure to medical device integration or remote telemetry (RTH).
  • Experience working in or with private healthcare organisations.
  • Familiarity with agile development and DevOps practices in integration projects.
  • Led end‑to‑end integration design on initiatives.
